I brought my husband in because he is having trouble breathing 2 weeks after having covid. We were told to go sit down and my husband couldn't catch his breath. I asked how much longer it would be.... She told me that she sent by email, things I was supposed to fill out. I didn't know that this is how it's done. They should of told me how urgent care works. Then they called someone who was in the other room and asked if he WANTED TO TAKE HIM .... He said... well, I can.... I don't understand this at all. I'm glad I went back up to the desk we may still be sitting there. Not all of us have been to urgent care..... it should be explained. There were 4 girls sitting there..... they should tell people step by step what you have to do.....before someone dies waiting to be seen.

Every single phone number on their website says: thank you for calling, if you know the extension… please enter it now“ then hangs up. Good thing i’m not trying to be a patient there!! I wasted time calling at least 6 different phone numbers, including the one listed in other reviews for customer service and it does the same thing. I’d hate to see the kind of “care” this group offers parents! Absolutely unprofessional, irresponsible, and careless.

So now it's open enrollment time. YEA!!!!!! The experience with BFMC and Anthem Blue Cross Senior Secure HMO has been worse than a very bad toothache. HMO does not mean carte blanche on errors, and on the very least that you can provide and then less. I spent many hours on the phone trying to get errors fixed. They don't have the time to do things right, but they have time to do things over. That must be their motto. Their depth of coverage of specialists is non-existent. BFMC is a very scary HMO. They make it easy to give up and just die. I am still waiting on the correct MDE that was originally ordered in June. We are now in October. One of their authorizations was to send me to Culver City when the specialist could see me here in Bakersfield. Of course, that error added extra days to the already 14 days it took them to authorize in the first place. Hey, what's more than a few extra days to BFMC to correct and mail again at their leisure. Oh yeah, and let's not forget that one girl who called me the afternoon before a procedure to tell me that she was looking at the chart and what she then said was the total opposite of my visit with the PA. SCARY, VERY SCARY. I guess things boil down to what you are willing to put up with and accept for YOUR well being. The quality of our healthcare demands proficiency in all aspects of our care. BFMC and Anthem Blue Cross Senior Secure HMO lack the qualities to provide this service. They are inefficient at best. If we don't speak up and demand quality, dignified healthcare then we are dooming ourselves to the malpractice that comes with substandard care. As people age, they are less willing and probably unable to demand that they not be killed and maimed and left to long term suffering by you healthcare administrators. However, you should all be made to be held accountable. Don't do it. Do not choose a health plan that uses BFMC. Good grief. I can't speak to how competent the actual patient staff is because the office staff is quite lacking in abilities. How difficult can it be to make an appointment? Evidently, quite difficult for at least some of the primary physician staff. I've been told to call back. I've been placed on hold only to be hung up on after being on hold over 4 minutes, multiple times. I've been put on hold and while on hold I've been transferred to another patient's phone. When I called the office back and told her what happened, she wanted to put me on hold again. UGH. While on the hunt for a primary care physician office who could actually make an appointment, I attempted to contact another primary care physician on the list of primary care physicians, and what do you know, a voicemail. I have determined that BFMC urgent care will be my primary care physican until open enrollment, as it should not be such a project to make an appointment for anything. When a patient calls, make the appointment and then that leaves you free to move on to something else. Stop the nonsense.

Urgent Care staff was so competent and professional! I was in and out quickly, and I feel 100% better. The staff was terrific. Everyone was knowledgeable, efficient and kind. I'd give them 10 STARS if I could.

Yes
You should call first.
Everything don't know about obg or pcp
I've gone to BFMC since 2016 and intend to stay with them. I'm T2 diabetic with respiratory issues and they have treated me well.
I don't believe so. I received my Covid test at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. You can always call BFMC though to ask if any of their facilities do.
You can get a token from the receptionist at your next appt. Also you can see if they will give you a code over the phone. Check out the website.
I have my card updated
Yes, always. Unless you want to or have to use the Urgent Care, no appointment need it.
