I timed my visit to coincide with low-tide (just Google “davenport tide charts” to see when it’s low tide - the lower the better), and that allowed me to wander through a huge amount of tide pools toward the south end of the beach. After that, I was able to reach the tunnel on the north end (it’s only accessible during low tide) and walk through it. The whole experience was inspiring. It feels very wild there. During my visit I saw tons of sea anemones, mussels, barnacles as well as a couple purple sea urchins, starfish and oystercatcher seabirds.

Perfect place for kids. Easy access to beach. Had a wonderful time. Downfall was the restrooms. Toilet was a sunked whole into the ground.

Super nice dog friendly beach, parking lot is not big but that makes it better since it limits how crowded the beach gets. The tide pools and caves were fun to explore, but so was playing in the water however caution: there is no life guard at the beach so please watch your children and pets the waves weren't too hard when we arrived at 10am but by 5pm current was a lot stronger. Also there isn't any shade so make sure to pack umbrellas or a canopy.

My kids and I had a blast here tide pooling! Lots of little critters and sea life to see and eat terrain to traverse. Bathrooms available at the entry and a easy walk down to the main beach. No steep terrain or trekking to do.

Fires are allowed, but you cannot bury them to put them out as this will hear up the sand and people can step there without seeing the coals. Your best option is to just drown it with water
