One of the Best Biking Trail in Greensboro

One of my favorite mountain bike trails in Greensboro. Its not a loop and is around 5 miles one way so a 10 mile out and back. Also check out Wild Turkey which is 8 miles out and back and is right down the greenway making it perfect to do before or after owls roost for a good day of riding! Owls Roost has a good amount of tree roots which might be difficult for new riders but any intermediate or advanced rider should have no problem flowing over and around them.

At 4 miles, this Trail gives you a challenge both and distance and and terrain.

One of my absolutely favorite trails to run. It's a challenge but completely worth it. beautiful views and well maintained mountain bike course.

Questions & Answers

Can you camp here? Can i leave my car over night, kayak and wildreness camp a night in my hammock? Will my car be towed?

Camping is not allowed in Bur-Mil park. Your car will not be towed. The gates are locked at 8 or so so you will be locked in until morning. Not really a place to launch your boat at Bur-Mil Park (trail head for Owl's Roost). Park at Lake Brandt Marina for a boat launch. Same rules apply regarding parking, gates lock at a certain time. I sleep in my hammock all the time along the trail, albeit during the day after a 10 to 15 mile hike. If looking for a hike, walk the trails around the lake and you can hike between 3 and 20 miles. Hope that helps and you enjoy your time in Greensboro! Putting Greensboro on the map!

What are the directions to get to this trailhead? Google maps droppped me off in the middle of a development, and there are no roads on the map close to the marked trailhead coordinates.

Walk down the hill toward the lake from the barn and environmental center. Once you reach the paved Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway hang a right and the trail head will be on your left about 10 yards. Its a great 4.2 miles trail that will take you back to the Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway. From there, make a right and it will take you back to your car (about a mile) or turn around and challenge yourself by back tracking.

Do you have to pay to get in ?

This is a public park and there are no entry fees. Some items have a fee such as the pool, driving range, par 3 golf or renting the bikes.
