What was the blast from the power plant on Wednesday April 25 at 05:30 that lasted for a half hour?

That was a safety lifting. Vents the steam pressure off to prevent damage to plant. This happens when the plant trips (steam turbine shut down unexpectedly and the steam has no where to go). Although this is not normal per say, it is needed and designed that way to prevent damage to the plant. Very annoying but nothing to worry about, it just takes time to get rid of all the extra heat.

I live in the peninsula and look at the facility everyday. It is an eyesore. I understand it is coming down. When? And will it be replaced? If so will it still be an eyesore?
