UTOPIA GRILL in West Milford, NJ thinks a Philly BBQ Steak Sandwich is cold sliced roast beef, served with a slice of cold cheese and BBQ sauce. That's what they gave me on 4/15/2022 I told the manager that the sandwich wasn't bad, but not what I ordered. When you put the word "Philly" up there in the name it has a specific and undisputed meaning that the public understands. It has to be thinly sliced beef cooked on a grill with onions, and served with melted cheese. It's not any kind of cold sandwich. She was adamant that "Philly" can be anything she decides. That's why I decided to give this review. Because she wasn't apologetic or conciliatory, and chose to fire back at me. OK, so according to her logic, a Belgian Waffle can be a pancake. Manhattan Clam Chowder doesn't have to be red. I can go on with Kentucky Fried Chicken, French fries, English Muffin, etc..

I used to come here all the time but the quality has gone downhill over the past few months, where the food tasted anything but fresh. The last time I was there the person behind the counter was making sandwiches and handling customer’s money without changing gloves.

Amazing gluten free option! I've tried so many gluten free crusts and pizzas, and this is the best I've had and at a very fair price. Friendly staff and a nice stop while exploring the area.

06/27/2021: I was driving to Hewitt, NJ to conduct business and left home without eating. Coming close and before making a right onto N. Lake Shore Drive, I noticed Utopia on my left and made a legal U-Turn up the road and came back. I enjoyed some fresh tuna fish salad as-is and my associate had a buttered corn muffin. We had a few Snapples too. Simple, yes, but the Utopia personnel were upbeat and friendly and the Utopia tables and Cafe in general was clean. I will keep this as stopping off point the next time on the road in this area. Well Done! ed
