Salmon River Tours

We were blessed with a Main Salmon River permit this summer. Unfortunately, a member of our group tested positive for covid and felt quite ill. We decided that she and I would leave our group a day early and get her home. At Mackay Bar, we met Jeff with Salmon River Tours. He was heading downriver to pick up an afternoon tour group. We had a direct trip downriver and drove home. We gave Jeff a copy of our credit card and were somewhat astonished to be charged $500 for a trip that Salmon River Tours was already making to pick up guests. With full day trips offered on their website that include historical stops and lunches for $165 pp, we felt that they took advantage of our situation. I called to discuss it with the office manager and she insisted that they were giving us a special rate with the $500 fee. Take this as a word of warning and make sure you know charges with this company beforehand. We personally feel that they took advantage of our medical situation and charged us a large fee for a trip that did not incur any extra expenses for them.

Great jet boat guide, great food, really great fishing. I would definitely recommend to others and I hope to go back in the spring. Jeff was all you could hope for in a guide and Alice made some outstanding meals. It's a pretty rustic place, but all the necessities were available.
