During this initial stage of recovery, medications are administered in a controlled setting to soothe physical withdrawal symptoms and prevent any serious, life-threatening withdrawal effects. Life-threatening withdrawal symptoms can occur in individuals who are detoxing from benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Klonopin, Ativan) and alcohol as both of these substances can result in withdrawal seizures when either is eliminated from the body. Medical detoxification is a thoughtful, individualized, and systematic process that aims to ease the client off of psychoactive substances in a safe and stable environment under the close supervision and care of physicians and nurses.

The benefit of an outpatient program is that you can supplement treatment to your existing schedule. This allows you to maintain your day-to-day routine, practice your skills in real life, and make an easier transition into a normal routine. While inpatient treatment is more intense and necessary for some, it can also cause a buildup of responsibilities and missed time with loved ones.
Yes! Effective and sophisticated treatment for schizophrenia is available. Hi Smith, It depends on the nature of treatment the individual requires. So for someone with perhaps bipolar depression, lupus and chemical dependency it may be longer than someone who has one discrete issue they want to work on. If you would like more detail, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 805.668.8572 and Daniel Petersen will be happy to help! Sincerely, Dr Shari Corbitt CEO/Founder Awakenings Treatment Center
