This gentleman took over a year (actually, 18 months) to fix my clock, and charged me $100 more than he initially estimated. When I mentioned in passing that I had used another clock repairman (Smith's Clock Co) to repair my grandfather clock, he had nothing but derision and scorn for David (of Smith's), which I though was unprofessional to say the least. And the Grandfather clock is still running well. So I sent another clock to David recently, and he not only repaired it, but went above and beyond. It had not been sounding exactly on the hour (a few minutes after the hour and half hour) and he fixed that. There was no bolt to tighten the pendulum and adjust the speed, which he found and included, all this at no extra cost. And he finished his work in 6 weeks. Those are the guys I recommend, not people to talk poorly about their competition (to say nothing of overcharging).

This is the best place in the city. Dorian is very friendly, and his apprentice, Max, is too.

Dorian is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about antique and vintage clocks. This is great spot for horology nerds.

This may well be the most interesting shop in San Francisco. We dropped in on a Monday around lunchtime and Dorian and his apprentice were happy to spend some time talking about the amazing collection of clocks in the shop (including several enormous timepieces that would normally live in clock towers). Dorian had been repairing clocks for at least 50 years and is a wealth of information - he also looks after the clock inside the Ferry building including updating it twice a year for daylight savings time.
