Comfortable slow 5 hour tour through mountain back woods, river sides with fantastic views. Great photo ops along with wonderful historical narration. That same narrator came through each car playing some good, well known blue grass tunes with his banjo. A great experience. Will return for longer excursions.

I can't ever say enough about the Tennessee Valley Railroad. This ride is a nice slow cruise through the Hiwassee river gorge, filled with breathtaking scenery. I can't speak to the first class cars, but coach is plenty comfortable. It was really cool to hear all the history facts from our tour guide, who was very knowledgeable of both the railroad's history as well as the surrounding area. It's every bit as fun as I remember it being when I rode it as a kid, except now they have snack car which is definitely a nice addition. Each car has restrooms, as well. Definitely an experience worth riding along for!

Very interesting and leisurely ride up the mountain to the bald loop. We really enjoyed hearing about the history of the ghost towns and area in general and the breathtaking views of the Hiawassee River and mountains.

The train ride and everyone aboard was fantastic. Conductor’s on board were knowledgeable and friendly. Concession prices were very affordable and the train was extremely clean. We will definitely be back when they start running the Copperhill Special again. Hopefully, next year. I would have rated my experience 5 stars based on that alone. I took a way a star due to confusion trying to get tot he train. My ticket confirmation email stated that tickets were to be picked up at the box office 15 minutes prior to departure. However, when we got to Etowah, there was a museum but no box office or train. Apparently, the box office does not exist. Parking and boarding for the train was five miles back marked by a small sign on the side of the road where the conductor just had a list of names on a clipboard. There has to be a better system.

Anywhere from 4-8 hours. It all depends on which excursion you take.
Lorea, we always suggest purchasing your tickets in advance, tickets for our longer trips and special events typically sell out in advance. Walk up tickets are usually available for purchase at the door for our shorter trip, the Missionary Ridge Local.
We have a boarding ramp at all of our boarding facilities for our Hiwassee Trips. We would like to mention that the insides of our coaches have narrow hallways and isles, which makes it difficult for some passengers to navigate. Both dome and observation seats are not recommended for those with mobility issues due to lots of walking and steps to get to the seating areas.
We have a Valentine's dinner train in Chattanooga but not here in Etowah.
These are the current Fall prices. Copperhill Trip... (All Day) Adult Coach: $80.00 Child Coach: $45.00 All Dome: $145.00 All Observation: $130.00 Loop Trip... (Half Day) Adult Coach: $50.00 Child Coach: $34.00 All Dome: $115.00 All Observation: $98.00
There is a train ride that serves dinner, but ours did not. Yes, our discount was for 25 or more. The price went down $7 a piece. Look up TN railway & see what you can find.
We only allow trained service animals on the train.
Currently, Loop Trips start out at $50 per adult and $34 per child ages 2-12. Copperhill trips start out at $80 per adult, and $45 per child ages 2-12. Children 2and under always free for free if not occupying a seat.
