I have worked in retail auto parts, dealerships and worked on performance vehicles in my own shop since 2004. I have recomeended and sold hundreds of K&N and Spectre products since then. However that being said after my recent call to this location, I will be suggesting other manufacturers. I have a 1997 Chevy Express conversion van that is in very good shape that I use for long road trips and camping. I recently put a new 383 in it but ran into a snag. The air filter assembly was made of pastic and decided to crumble. GM no longer sells it and the salvage yard ones are in the same condition as mine. I looked for a complete system to no avail. Discovered that the GM Kodiak trucks around 2004 have the same firewall as the vans and K&N sells a kit for the Duramax powered version. I explained the situation and was told to look up Spectre and buy universal stuff. Except I was looking to buy something that would actually fit halfway decently. Unlike some competitors that will sell you the components of their kits individually, K&N representative I spoke to who was of little help, said if you want the heatshield and filter you have to buy the $300 complete kit (which is currently unavailable with no ETA) with all the useless to me components to clutter up my garage. The tubing and mounting hardware and brackets are absolutely useless to me. So much for having good customer service or even a product for your vehicle. Chevy Express is only about the most common van ever built and with the exception of a few updates over the years has been virtually unchanged from 1996 to current day. So my money and 100s of my future customers money will now be directed away from K&N. K&N should reconsider their stand on individual parts from their kits. With the plethora of engine swaps being done, I have done many myself, it would be great to be able to buy a heatshield and filter that fits the application without buying the worthless pre-bent metal tube. Perfect example being the heatshield for a 96-99 C1500 5.7L to use with a LS swaped truck. K&N complete kits are worthless on 95% of the stuff I mess with. Rather than helping me obtain what I needed and selling it to me your customer service has lost my future business as well as my future customers. I have zero faith I could obtain a replacement part for a customer should it be needed to replace a damaged or lost part without buying the whole kit over again.

I will legitimately never use K&N Air Filters ever in my life nor will I recommend it to anyone ever. It has been the preferred air filter and intake for my family for 3 generations, though their customer service is absolutely atrocious. After multiple phone calls and emails, It's been insinuated by one of their customer service employees that I don't know what kind of vehicle/engine I have. I've learned this is because K&N's Research and Development has apparently decided to use "Vindecoder.net" which resulted in their search function for the 2014 Honda Civic Si Coupe providing an air filter that does not fit the 2.4L DOHC engine, rather the air filter they believe fits this vehicle is for the 8th Gen Civic Si because Vindecoder.net states that the 2014 Honda Civic SI engine is a 2.0L, which it's not. I've shared this via email and over the phone at least 5 separate occasions. After a customer service representative agreed to share the shipping address with me to return the WRONG air filter, I had to reach out again in order to have the label paid for by them. I was told they only pay for shipping when K&N made a mistake, so I had to once again explain the situation. In what way is it ethical to make your customer pay to ship a product back to you and receive a refund for negligence by your company that wasn't competent enough to ensure that the air filter you say fits a specific vehicle actually is compatible with that vehicle? After sending the filter back, I had to call AGAIN in order to be told that it wasn't received. I told them it had been 2 weeks and the representative put me on hold to then tell me it in fact had been received. I said that I haven't received a refund yet and she informed me that it would take 4-6 weeks to receive a refund, this is absurd. I was asked if I wanted to be transferred to Accounting, to which I said please. I was "transferred' to the main line recording one reaches when they first call in. It's been 2 months since I've shipped the product back and have still not received a refund, 2 months is 2-4 weeks longer than the ridiculous wait to receive a refund that I was previously told. When you are looking for the best filtration look no further that K&N. They have been in the filtration and performance products business for years. Everyone knows K&N is the best around. We just installed a system in my sons WRX.

I've ordered several filters online over a few years. The first one I bought was from a local auto parts store was pretty expensive. Back when they first came out.. There was no online store! I have seven cars and quite a few gas powered toys never had any issues and it is cheaper! Great customer service fast and free shipping no issues and this time I got a free Hot Wheels K&N toy! Way cooler than a hat. Check them out order now!
