The front desk is always so friendly and offers patients water, coffee, or tea with every visit. One of the only complaints is that they book appointments back-to-back, and usually run maybe 5-10 minutes late. Occasionally this has cut into my appointment time if the patient before me decides to take longer.

All of the people are great, and my son even enjoys going to his appts here. He's been going through the comprehensive diagnostic testing process to determine whether he is high functioning on the autism spectrum, or something else, such as a developmental delay. Previously, his teachers were oblivious to it, his school psychologist was on the fence. Educators assumed since he has an extremely high IQ and ADHD, that that was the ONLY thing in play, and made me feel like I was crazy, and all the little quirks I saw with my son were all in my head! The AAPSA has FINALLY given me piece of mind! Dr. Dempsey sees in my son the same quirks that the school nurse, psychiatrist, psychologist, and myself, all noticed. He is extremely patient, and reassured me that I was not, in fact, crazy, and was completely justified to get my son the comprehensive testing to rule out- or pinpoint, what my son is struggling and coping with internally.

The only place that took the time to get to know my son (and each child) before they "labeled" him. My son had recieved over 7 diagnosis in 5 years before coming to AAPSA which was all guesswork, ie: Meet him for an hour, here is what is his problem! AAPSA didn't do that! They evaluated over a series of visits and made sure to pay close attention to each facet of your child. Lucas recieves services through AAPSA and has been for some time now. We will never go anywhere else. We actually feel welcomed here!

Full disclosure: I just started working at AAPSA after running my own ABA company for ten years. I'm totally impressed by the dedication and skills, and positive energy of the staff. As the complex name implies, there are Psychologists and Social Workers who work with a wide range of clinical challenges and provide primary Cognitive Behavior Therapy along with another team of Behavior Analysts and Registered Behavior technicians who support children with Spectrum Disorders. The agency is professional, positive, and effective. I'm looking forward to joining the growth of Syracuse location (there is also a clinic in Utica) and the expansion of the "Little Grasshoppers" program (for young children with autism). Also: I know getting a diagnostic evaluation for autism is difficult in this region. Dr. Dempsey is awesome and has a much shorter waitlist that other clinicians in the area.
