Very mediocre dining experience starting with a table outdoors that was slanted and directed an inordinate amount of heat from the grill at a single guest (avoid eating outside here if you can or maybe just avoid eating here overall). Small portions for what you pay for and none of the items stood out as especially tasty. And finally, poor service with a waiter who was very soft spoken and had little knowledge about the menu. Much better Japanese BBQ to be found in LA so will be avoiding this place in the future.

It’s been 5 years since my last visit, and happy to find that Manpuku still offers highest level of quality of Japanese Yakiniku in US. Their 2 Negi Shio, especially beef tongue is always a must, as well as others Wagyu style beefs and Angus beefs. I like their guts too, try Yuzu flavor. They now have outdoor seatings so easier to book than before. Staffs are always super friendly and knowledgeable. Great employee education as before.

Excellent quality of meat that you don't often get elsewhere. We ordered 4 meats, garlic fried rice and kimchi. Every dish is very tasty. However, the dining environment is far from pleasant. They use charcoal grill, but the outdoor area is poorly ventilated, which made me feel dizzy. Worse yet, each table is fairly close from another and you have to bear the noise from the parking lot. Paying $$$ doesn't simply justify the experience we got in return.

pros: - negishio short ribs were good, yummy sauce - butter corn was GREAT, i have no idea what they put in it to make it so tasty. i almost wanted to finish the whole portion by myself and make my friend order their own - staff were very pleasant and efficient - place is nice, not smoky or cramped con: - just one problem: as seen in the 3rd picture, the A5 wagyu was $48(?) for 7 pieces and it just clearly was not A5. at nearly $7 per piece i'd expect it to look pale pink & be insanely melt-in-your-mouth buttery. visually you can already see that this wasn't the case because theres basically no marbling whatsoever. it looked and tasted like normal ribeye. it wasn't bad - just criminally overpriced and misrepresented.
