Amazing campground and amazing hosts (although it sounded like the hosts we had are retiring). Either way, super clean campground. Lake is amazing, crystal clear and glassy in the mornings. Sites are well-spaced. I have gone here every year for my birthday for about 5 years now. Always a dream.

One of the best parks Ive been to in Colorado for camping. Took a tent spot (28) which was amazing. Fishing by the lake and Im sure the views would have been MUCH better if there wasnt smoke from the CA fires. Has a red feather super market right by the campgrounds which has EVERYTHING.

So pretty. Great trail around the lake, lots of families out fishing and boating. It's a gorgeous place. The spots are pretty far apart, not all on top of one another. Try to sign up six months in advance so you can get a spot. NO TANK filling for RVs. Woops... There are spigots for drinking water, but you can't fill from them. Vault toilets, very well taken care of. Electricity at campsite only. All sites have fire ring, picnic table, and bear locker for food/toiletries, etc.

Yes I've seen hammocks hung on trees.
Most people get there early and drive around looking for spots to open. I think you can take it when they leave.
No bears seen there yet this year. There are bear lockers at every camp site for food, toiletries, etc.
West lake and Dowdy lake are US Forest Service campgrounds so they have fees. Most sites are reserved but some are walk up. Check out recreation.gov for details.

Yes but it's not very big. Dowdy would be better and it's just over the hill from westlake.
Unsure, but I would say its fairly deep. And it's a small lake and no motorized boats allowed. So great place for fishing, paddleboarding, canoeing etc. It does have a nice gradual incline into the water.
