Caribou Falls State Wayside

Absolutely one of my favorite places to visit on the north shore! This by far one of the most beautiful water falls in Minnesota! The hike is an easy 1/2 mile trek back on a good trail. You do have to go down 155 stairs to get to the falls ( and of course then come back up them!) when we went in June, the water was higher and so there was no where to go at the bottom as all the rocks were underwater. In Aug the water was lower and so we were able to leap frog across some rocks to a more rocks area to sit a while! A definite must if you are in the area!!

Great spot to stop on a road trip. About a half mile hike to the falls. The falls are a hidden jem. They're large and beautiful. There was also no one there, so it was a great stop away from crowds.

It has easy access from highway 61. Unless you are good hiker, don’t take train along the river as it is narrow, has snakes and hornet nest. Take higher train which takes you to the fall easily. It is great spot and wonderful views. Must see it.
