Was so happy to finally get here in my Jeep. The trails I went on were just enough of a challenge to keep it interesting but not to the point where I worried about getting stuck or unable to handle it. Beautiful, tons of trails, and everyone is so friendly. Highly recommend!

We came up here for memorial weekend and had a blast! So many fun trails and awesome areas to camp! Even on a busy Memorial Day weekend we were able to find a remote spot on a lake. Please respect this land, we picked up lots of beer cans that people just threw out while they were riding!

Our first time in the area, and we had an excellent time. The trails are well marked, but we recommend downloading the colored map from the website to better determine the correct paths to take depending on your vehicle type. The trails were ranging from easy to pretty difficult. We will be coming back once the snow is gone to see how the terrain changes. Highly recommend!

What an amazing trail system! Came here in September with my Lexus LX470 (Land Cruiser), this was my first time off-roading anywhere. Park is huge with lots of trails, there are posted maps at parking lots but I did not see any printed maps so I took a picture of the map on my phone and previously I pre-downloaded this area in Google Maps which doesn't show trails unfortunately but at least it shows which direction my vehicle is pointing/traveling and switching between this and the picture of posted map at parking lot I was able to understand which trail I am at and which direction heading. All trails are clearly marked with a number and have pictogram on what vehicles are allowed on the trail. There are many camping sites, all of those I saw were clearly visible from main gravel road that goes through the whole park and connects both parking lots. Everyone on the trail was super nice and always waived and smiled, there are everyone from little kids on bikes and ATVs to older folks in UTVs and anyone in between. Trails are two-way so you or they have to pull aside to yield (especially if you are driving a tank like mine), that said, I never encountered another 4x4 but if we did, one of us would have to back up to wider spot of trail, most of trails are narrow. I haven't seen much mud, 99.9% of trails I've been on were dry impacted dirt with lots of rocks. Scenery is beautiful with color changing leaves. For the most part there is no reception but sometimes it comes through for few seconds on some parts of some trails. If your 4x4 vehicle has MN license plates, you do NOT need any permits to run trails. I aired down my 285/75/16 BFGoodrich KO2s from 38 to 18psi and they did very well along with truck being in 4 low. Cannot wait to go back.

No. You can camp at designated areas for free, but you will need to get there early enough so you can claim a spot. Other than that, nothing close by. The next town close is Pine River.
