We had a great experience camping here. We arrived late on Friday around 7pm just in time to buy firewood. Then Saturday we were able to get wood til 4pm. The ranger gave us lots of maps and helpful suggestions for where to check out certain trails and for things to do around Black River Falls. There weren't many people camping and we didn't get any bug bites at all, barely saw any mosquitoes despite our campsite having standing water. We brought our own drinking water because we heard it's brown so we didn't bother. The pit toilets are gross but that's usually how it is, the seats and stuff were clean though. And if you want nicer toilets and showers Castle Mound Campground has them but that site was way more full. The location is great to branch out and do things in Black River Falls, up by Lake Arbutus, Levis/Trow and others. You can see tons of stars by the beach near the campground on clear nights.

The campground and park are pretty, but we did not have a good experience camping. The facilities were poor- vault toilets (no sinks or showers), and when I tried to use the water pump, the water came out yellow. I obtained dozens (53 in total over 26 hours) of mosquito bites even after spraying down with 98% DEET. We might be back to walk the trails, but we won't be back to camp.

Bao Nha Thao

The office was only opened periodically throughout the day with no real "open" hours which made it extremely difficult to purchase firewood. We arrived on a Thursday night around 6 pm and the firewood was locked for the rest of the night. We had to drive 40 min out to find firewood due to the bridge construction. On Friday, they were opened until 7 pm, and then on Saturday night, firewood was locked at 4 pm. Many of the campers, including us, had to scavage for our own firewood from the surrounding forest. I would never camp here again.

Awesome place to camp! Rangers are super friendly and the campground was clean. Awesome lake and trails nearby too!
