I am one of the odd people here on Fort MacArthur. Since my husband was in the USAF for many many years we were allowed to rent housing as space available. We share a 2 BR apt with my son who was also in the military. For us, living here is like living in a great retirement spot. I must complain about the rent however. It is more than too high. I have a friend who is retired and rent for him in a different state is a much lower price for same apartment. My 2nd observation is that we have nowhere on base to buy groceries. All the bases we have been on have at least a small building where milk and bread are sold. CA is my home state. It's so good to be home!

Really enjoy living here. Walking distance from the beach, plenty of playgrounds for the kids, community pool with water park, and an awesome view.

Where can families stay on base when visiting?
Can I get a military driver license as a it's a veteran Vietnam veteran
No, not a bike path but on base the speed limit for cars is 25mph and you can ride your bike anywhere on base safely! There is a long running trail on the base!

No. The services at Ft Macarthur are limited including no food service/restaurants
