EDIT: In reply to the owner. While I acknowledged that sending a modified vehicle in for inspection was an oversight on my part, I would expect a shop owner to assist his customers by notifying them that their "questionably modified vehicle" (I have a plastic intake tube installed that is no different than the stock equipment except for the fact that California does not recognize it as legal) would not pass smog before running the test and charging me $60. This is mildly predatory and I feel people should know about it. How hard would it have been to just say, "this vehicle will not pass as is. Bring it back with original equipment installed."? I'm not asking for you to illegally pass my vehicle or to put your livelihood at risk. Just looking for some professional courtesy before you rip me off for $60 and then fail my vehicle anyway. Original post: I asked my wife to get my truck smogged in anticipation of selling it but forgot that I still had my aftermarket intake tube installed. She doesn't know any better so instead of the tech telling her the smog would fail with that equipment installed, they smogged the truck, charged her $60 and then told her it failed. Don't worry, they said they'd resmog it for just an additional $30. 🙄 Is this my fault? Yes. Is it also pretty shady business practice? Also yes. I'm hoping to resolve tomorrow but if they won't resmog for free, I'll be going somewhere else instead of giving this place more money.

Had a great experience from start to finish. The customer service was superb. I did not have an appointment and was in and out in less than an hour. I even grabbed some delicious tacos de Birria next door. Definitely coming back in the future. Thank you!
