East Rock Park is a free park in the city of New Haven and the town of Hamden. It is a nice area for jogging, biking, trails. Also it has a grill area with a beautiful view.

It's a beautiful view when you get to the top. The last time I was there many years ago you could drive to the top so be warned If you haven't been there in years you have to park in the lot below and walk up. I did the walk up it was farther than I thought and tough because I have severe back and feet issues .

This is a great place to see New Haven laid out at your feet, the Sound beyond and on most days Long Island on the horizon. It’s heaven for walkers and cyclists. You can stroll up to the top on English Drive with no worries about motor traffic, clamber up the Giant’s Staircase or ride your mountain bike through the woods on mile after mile of trails ranging from smooth and relaxing to seriously technical. There are usually no refreshments on sale in the park, so bring your own.

Awesome park!! Has several trails up to the top ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 miles depending on which route you take. Great place to come for a run or job.

It was still closed to vehicles today (June 2021). I know people who would like to go, but they can't handle the walk/hike.
They are having trouble finding a light bulb that fits just rite

Yes, my dogs love the park. They seem to like the trails along the river best. They must be leashed thought. Beware of other owners.
Where ever in new haven west haven or east haven. Ur going to see it all!!! Beautiful
Yes, I have noticed that there seems to be an effort to get us back to the top. I have seen a lot of lower levels are being used now daily and I have my fingers crossed with the road to the top where the sites of our beautiful city are easily seen and appreciated by life long residents of the area.
Hopefully they will get one for you fast.. I would just go and have that birthday party for your son what could they say .. good luck..
Yes. The monument area is 326 feet above sea level. You will be safe there. And you would have a beautiful view of the tsunami as it comes in to land. Bring a camera.
