The restaurant is located at a good location and preparation is good. Even though prices are on the higher side, the potion side is good and food is sufficient. Definitely try Lobster Avocado grilled sandwich.

After hearing about the legendary Ford’s Lobsters for so long, we made a detour on our most recent Mystic trip! It wasn’t the best weather outside, but this allowed us to get inside easily without a wait. We started with appetizers of the clams casino and a cup of lobster bisque. The bisque was very smooth and wasn’t filled with big chunks of lobster meat, which is how I personally prefer it. The clams casino were good, and the pieces of bacon were super thick and had a nice smoky flavor. My mom enjoyed her lobster roll, and the men in our family each ordered one of the famous bisque bombs. I don’t know how they finished it! The bread bowl reminded me a bit of puffy pastry and withheld the filling very well. It was mostly huge chunks of lobster with bisque over top, and you certainly get your moneys worth! I had the crab cake which was good, but a bit over cooked on the outside. Overall compared to a lot of places we’ve gone for seafood in the area, Ford’s has been one of the best! We will definitely come back!

Note: Dine-in only to eat on-premise, or you can take-out but required to find somewhere else to eat on the water away from the restaurant (could be a restaurant, town, or marina rule). I'd recommend the restaurant put up a sign so folks know before ordering. Take-out for two lobster rolls took about 15 minutes to prepare on a slower but sunny and warm Monday. I suppose that means they cook and cut the lobsters on demand rather than prepare the meat in advance. I'd imagine on a busy Saturday it could take far longer to get a lobster roll. Cold or hot, a decent amount of meat, on an extra thick split top bun (almost sized of a fat hoagie roll). Reason for 3 stars: Super disappointed that the lobster on both sandwiches was overcooked and mealy/rubbery. We joked to each other that had they only took 10 minutes to prepare the lobster it would have been cooked great and faster. The Hot has the meat doused in butter rather than simply brushing it on top... This lost most of the lobster flavor to butter. But the ultimate reason for 3 stars, despite the pains of inflation, is a market price above $30 when all that is served on the side is a handful of Lays chips (or similar) and a small scoop of cole slaw (pic in this review for reference). At the very least, the chips could have been better quality let alone offer fries. In today's pricey lobster roll market, you'll still find better rolls along the CT and RI shore.

Enjoy a fresh lobster or seafood meal on the dock at Fords. They’re lobster rolls are my #1 go to place in CT in the summertime. My favorite thing to get is their lobster bomb. It’s a bread bowl filled with lobster bisque, topped with butter sautéed lobster and topped off with more bisque. It’s worth the cost as well as they do charge market price. But if you’re not into lobster and are in the mood for a different kind of seafood, they have a whole menu that you can choose from, like these scallop tacos. The scallops were cooked perfectly and full of flavor! Can’t wait to return in the future to try something new!

Its always busy. Typical wait is 45 to 90 min. But your are drinking out of your own cooler or wine stash sitting in a very picturesque spot. Avoid key meal times for less wait. Labor day will be busy if weather is good. No indoor seating...
Yes they ask for your name and cell and they text you when your table is up... I waited 45 minutes worth the wait
Please make sure to call them first.
Open and the menu is semi modified
They are open 7 days a week
Not sure. I've stuck with the lobster roll and lobster grilled cheese with avocado.
Expensive lol. But you get what you pay for and serving sizes are large as well.
Not on the menu that I remember but they do have lobster mac n' cheese a popular item.
