Years of various reasons for contacting them, Danielle seemed to always be the person that contacted me when I first contacted them years ago, so I ended up saving Her info in my cell, so she was the only one I ever remember having contact with but, she always showed me that she cared & was concerned about the cat I was calling about whether it was a possible lost pet or a feral. And unfortunately Crescent City has 100s of them! I can't imagine her volunteering for anyplace that wasn't excellent with cats!

2 Years ago, I got my first cat, Sophia, there. A month later we came back to get her a brother, Ramsey. Last month a kitten jumped thru our window and wouldn't leave. I made an appointment at the vet to get our new boy, Deuce, fixed and shots ... Over $160. Called DN Humane Society. Got him fixed, shots, deworming...only $60. Thank you volunteers, SO MUCH!! My neighbors went for 2 kittens. I will talk you peeps up, always. 🐈☘️🌻

An all-volunteer non profit group, and they do an amazing job taking care of the animals in the area. They have to deal with a lot of crazy people who take advantage of their services (see Tammy Carr below) but that's the business unfortunately. I got my kitty from here, she came spayed, with shots for cheap- much cheaper than the rip-off pet stores in the area!

I had been interested in one of the long term dogs at the shelter because I knew I could give her an excellent home. Initially the communication was great. I live out of the area, so most was done via email. After months of going back and forth the coordinator found a volunteer in my area to inspect. I own my home, have 3 separate fenced in areas, feed organic raw and veggies, and have excellent references from local shelters that I've volunteered at, and adopted out a 5 + year pit mix who had been at the shelter her entire life. The volunteer showed up for the inspection, and low and behold I happened to get sick. Apparently they felt I "wasn't ready to adopt" due to the fact I got a stomach bug. I attempted to call, email, and leave messages over the course of a few weeks to explain to the coordinator, Justin, that it was a misunderstanding. He dodged my contact attempts claiming it was licensing season, and that he was busy. Then eventually when he was sitting at the phones and had to answer my call I got a chance to speak to him. Still no real reason as to why they wouldn't adopt out to me. Their whole statement is about finding their animals great homes, which I have. Justin claimed this dog was his favorite, and he would rather have her remain in her foster home instead of being adopted out. Not sure what's really going on at this shelter, but it seems pretty fishy to me. I truly hope these animals get out of these cages. If it were me, I'd be jumping at a situation like mine for any of these dogs, especially ones who have been there for years.

Humane Society of Del Norte helps with many things, including abandoned cats. I (we) have not received a call from you. At this moment, we cannot take in any cats because we are full. Have you contacted Wild Feline Rescue?
Cost range to neuter a dog & rabies vaccine through us is $85 - $120 depending on his weight & which vet performs his services. Best way to get an exact quote & get scheduled is to call 707-464-1686 and leave your name, number, & mention dog neuter.
Animal Control handles that type of issue. 707-464-7235 Mon - Fri, 8am to 5pm
The Del Norte Dog shelter off Washington Blvd would know. They are 100% full of dogs right now, and I was told are not taking in anymore dogs.
beginnig sept, at the dog park on front street. Labor day weekend on Saturday tentatively.
We do not offer a voucher... We offer low cost options by calling 707-464-1686
The last i checked there was, they get them in quite often since its kitten season..i belive the adoption fee is 60$. Call them to verify kitten are still avaible and to set up an appt as they are only there on appt times
No, im sorry. This is a cat shelter.
We do not have a dog shot clinic. Shots can be purchased at the feed store for around $10 & I would be happy to administer them for you. Or, you might check with South Coast Humane Society in Brookings....they have a wellness clinic often that offers low cost vaccines.
