EDIT: I had great difficulty communicating with the stylists at this salon because they did not speak English well. In the end I did not get a well executed style, my hair was done in unsightly rows of braids of different sizes, and the whole process was quite time consuming. Disappointed.

Been going to Hair by Tawoda since 1998. Tawoda and all the stylists sure know what they’re doing and keep the time as promised and also the hygiene and service is 2nd to none. Whether it’s natural hair styles you need, cut, color, weave, crotchet, braids, dreadlocks, name it, they got you. All my family members come here. From my husband to my sons and all my friends and customers I refer them here. You will leave feeling like a brand new $100 dollar bill. I love it here. My stylist the last 4 times has been Nana and she killed my style today. I love her so much. I am so happy, I had to share. You should come too.

Visiting from out of town and my hair needed some doin’. Tawoda was incredibly accommodating and found a space for me with her sister despite the steady flow of customers. I recently decided to straighten my hair after years of wearing it natural and felt uneasy about getting my hair pressed in a salon that does a lot of beautiful natural styles. My hair is strange. It can look pretty straight but I wake up curly. I had so much confidence in my stylist. She gave me a combination light press and flat iron. It was perfect for me when I left and was even better the next day. I wish I could bring them home. I will definitely go back every time I’m in Oakland. Superior customer service!
