I feel like this store has an issue with Hispanic people in general. I have been going here since I was young, and a lot of the staff here seem to have a disdain towards Hispanic customers. I've come here plenty of times, waiting for Western Union and been ignored most of the time, or told to wait while customer service attends everyone else. This isn't a one-time only experience. Cashiers rolling their eyes whenever they see someone in line speaking Spanish, won't greet you or treat you nice - but will to others. Huh, gee, I wonder if it's because my ethnicity annoys them or my language. Now comes another issue - The Bakery. Almost always has old items in stock, and well past their sold by date. What gives, and if you're going to do that - why not atleast offer a discount? I will NOT be giving this Safeway any more of my money at all. I actively do anything to avoid this store - even if it's nearby. The Giant Food on East West Highway knows how to treat their customers well, and no discrimination is faced there.

I actually stumbled upon this grocery store on my way home from work. My usual store is located a few miles up Georgia Avenue en Petworth, but I had forgotten to go there earlier to pick up some things to take home. Luckily I remembered what I needed as I drive past here. I went on in and picked up some milk, a bag of oranges, and some bananas as well. I also got three cans of tuna, because this will be my dinner tonight. While I was walking through the isles I noticed that everything was clean, and the shelves appeared to be well-stocked. I even got help from an employee who gave me directions to the restroom that is located in the back of the store. So all-in-all a quick first time experience at this grocery store, and no issues to report here. The checkout process was routine, and fairly quick. Also the parking situation was easy and there more than enough spaces when I arrived.

Shout-out to Larnell who was working the self-checkout late last night, he had a great attitude and went above and beyond to help me (while keeping things moving for other customers too). Just wanted to give credit where it was due, thanks for being a great neighborhood grocery store!
