The staff is professional and helpful, but some members of the judiciary aren't. Take Judge Benjamin Williams, for example. If you appear before him without an attorney, you should think about requesting a fair trial, and with representation. In my experience, he isn't sympathetic, is more of a disciplinarian, and will not give you the benefit of the doubt.

Alright, I filed a legal name change along with an amendment a few weeks later. There were delays due to a lack of staff, which I was fine with waiting for. Three months pass and my amendment was ignored, making my new legal name incorrect as a result! I now have to refile for something that required nothing more than a judge's signature. The court took another three months to my email regarding the matter, and I will now have to wait again for the issue to be fixed. I wasn't expecting efficiency, but I at least expect adequacy.

Why is no one ever answering the phones? I can not get through. I sent something to the clerk's records office over a month ago, and I have not heard anything. It is kind of frustrating because you can not reach anyone to know the status. I just want to know if anyone is really processing the records request.

Accompanied my cousin to take care of her business in the probate dept. We arrived around 830 am and the line went out the door of the dept, maybe 6-8 people ahead of us. We were out of the building by 945 am, which wasn't too painful. Ryan, the clerk who helped us, wasn't feeling well but he was still very helpful, friendly, and informative. Parking is available on the side streets and the meters take credit cards too. Just make sure to lock your doors and place belongings in the trunk.

See the Records division at 191 N. First Street in San Jose for certified copies. The original documents stay in the court file.
Wills can be lodged in the Probate Department of the Santa Clara County Superior Court at 191 N. 1st St, San Jose.
Yes. San Pedro garage across the street. Or street parking or other nearby lots.
There are a few public (paid) lots nearby, such as at market and St. John. Limited metered street parking is also available, but you might not be able to get back in time.
Bring the original will in to the probate clerk's desk on the first floor and they can help you out. It is a county specific cover letter
