Haight Ashbury Tattoo and Piercing

Came in as a walk in for a tat- was more than patient and understanding of walk in policies and wait times. I was assisted by the front desk and was immediately seen by an artist for consultation that soon jumped into the sesh. I was SUPER stoked. The artist seemed nervous to attempt the tattoo, for it was obvious it was out of their comfort zone. I asked the artist if they prefer a simpler tattoo to attempt and they insisted they do the tattoo I originally wanted. As they started to tattoo, I noticed they started shaking. The artist was kind enough to ask me if I was feeling ok during the session, but then spoke under their breath asking themself if they were ok? This made me slightly uncomfortable, for it made me wonder if letting the artist continue was a good idea. They asked me multiple times if I needed a break, which was again kind of them, but really I think the artist needed a break, for they were shaking throughout most of the session. At one point the artist said they felt better at their line work after attempting my tattoo. This also made me slightly uncomfortable, for you should feel confident at line work before tattooing on someone’s skin. As they finished and let me take a glance at the tattoo, i did not realize the line work was off since it was a fresh tattoo and my skin was lifted. Once I came back home and took a closer look with friends, the line work was done ever so poorly. Most, if not, all the lines are insanely crooked, shakey, and coming up on day 4 of healing and the lines are blown out and far from crisp. It’s quite an embarrassing tattoo, for instead of getting “thats a cool tat” I get, “thats a pretty bad tattoo” from friends and such. I came in the other day for a FULL refund, as they granted me such, although I feel as if I deserved to be see by an artist to fix the tattoo. None of the other artist wanted to take a look, instead, the same artist offered to fix my tattoo, which I did not feel comfortable doing so. Thus being said, I understand if you are a new artist and need clients to really get practice in, BUT, I think its highly important for clients to know they are working with someone new in the tattoo business. Im left with a tat that I can hardly stand to look at, and have to spend more money to fix. I do NOT recommend you come to location for tattoos but perhaps for piercings?

I’ve gotten two cartilage piercings from them now and I loved the service. They were very professional and made me feel super comfortable. I’m not one to normally write reviews but their overall service was just very nice and I would highly recommend them.

Got my lobe (last year) and double lobe (this year) pierced here, both probably by Sapo. No specials on those so come whenever it won’t be busy. The person at the register was very nice and helpful and Sapo himself was very friendly and easy to talk to and will guide you through everything. He’s very thorough and will make sure you get what you want. There was a 30-45 min wait each time I went so plan for that, but you can browse the shop or take a seat and chill until it’s time. Overall just a great, reasonably priced place and I plan to come again.
