As a physical therapist myself, I can quickly decipher great PT from poor PT. Victoria and what she has built with Ironhorse Physical Therapy is exactly what great PT looks like and what the rest of the profession should be aiming to emulate. I've seen first hand how much they take care of each and every one of their patients and the amazing results they have been able to achieve for them. If you're physically active and have been underwhelmed by the traditional, run of the mill practice then give Ironhorse Physical Therapy a shot and I promise you that it will be a breath of fresh air and completely different from other PT experiences you have had. Thanks Victoria for structuring your practice the way you have and helping show people what PT should be!

I was a very active tennis player and hiker, but had to stop both activities in late 2015, due to pain and swelling in my left knee. My knee would get sore and swell after a short walk and would sometimes just buckle on me. I had surgery on my left knee for both medial and lateral meniscus tears and osteoarthritis behind my kneecap in 2016 and completed several months of physical therapy sessions. In 2018, my orthopedic surgeon advised that I could resume playing tennis and hiking in moderation. After a couple of months of playing tennis 1-2 times per week, I noticed that my knee would swell, even though I would ice it and take anti-inflammatory medication. I stopped playing tennis to rest and strengthen my knee; but when I resumed playing, the swelling and discomfort would start again. I even got a cortisone injection in my knee, knowing that it was a temporary solution. I wanted to stop this vicious cycle and get my knee as strong and healthy as possible. My research into physical therapists that worked with athletes lead me to Ironhorse PT and Pilates and I began working with Victoria in July 2021. Victoria diagnosed that my knee problem was also caused by hip and ankle issues (they are all connected). She developed a comprehensive and increasingly challenging PT plan for me and would use different treatment modalities during my office visits. Victoria also took time to explain how the different exercises would help me and always asked what I did (activity wise), how I was feeling, were any exercises getting too easy for me, etc. My hip-knee-ankle are now all much stronger and flexible. I also have a much better idea on how to manage my activities and what to do if I get any discomfort from them. The best part is that I can now play tennis, hike, bike, and do other sports with family and friends (who I missed seeing) and without taking anti-inflammatory medication! I strongly believe that Victoria is helping me to be active for as long as possible! Thank you Victoria!

When I came to see Victoria couple months I had already been dealing with back pain and tightness and associated issues for a period of time. I had been to physical therapy with other providers, massage and other things that were just not making a difference and more importantly I was exhausted with the lack of improvement and symptoms. Victoria started the therapy only after a thorough analysis of my state. The exercises gave me options to not only stretch but also strengthen in a safe manner without aggravating my back. The exercises are tailored to my needs, Victoria provides pictures and videos for reference at home. I also started pilates sessions with Kate, an another excellent PT that works at Iron Horse PT. Fast forward few months, I am back to being able to do my favorite hikes, start exercising but more importantly I have a learnt a lot about my body and the right way to exercise. While I still have ways to go I am deeply grateful both to Victoria and Kate for helping me progress.

For the past 4 years I have seen Victoria for 3 different issues. Her diagnostic skills are spot on. She has gotten me back into solid shape more quickly than any previous regimen. She got me ready for a 240 mile hike after a bad ski fall which injured one knee. Then 2 years later helped me rehab the other knee back to full range of motion. I am currently taking a mat pilates group class at the office and am enjoying the professional training from Kate. I highly recommend Ironhorse PT.

Questions & Answers

What should I wear to my appointments?

You should dress in comfortable clothing that you can move in and also exposes the area to be treated (i.e. shorts or workout pants that can be pulled up above the knees or tank top/sports bra for women to expose shoulder). Tight jeans or dress clothes will restrict movement and are therefore not recommended.

Physical Therapy is a service covered by most insurances but it depends on the contract you specifically have with your insurance company. Please give us a call to discuss how you can get Physical Therapy covered by your insurance.

How long is each session?

Follow up sessions are generally about 50 minutes to accommodate transition time for cleaning and abiding by CDC guidelines for COVID precautions. Evaluations are about 60 minutes but can take a little bit longer. We do offer 30 minute sessions as well but those are generally planned for our seasoned patients who are requiring minimal tuneups.
