Super short, flat walk to the beach with portions of it on a boardwalk. Take bug spray if you plan on walking to the observation decks. Beautiful beach access with lots of space to spread out. Arrive early as the area becomes closed when the parking lot is full. It holds 11 cars.

Stunning environment with a lovely, contoured beach and grassy marsh. The two overlooks facilitated wildlife viewing. Very pleasant, cooling wind coming off of the Chesapeake Bay on a warm day. We'd like to return.

Views are incredible, trail is clean. Note: Has become extremely overcrowded recently. So, fair warning if you visit.

Highly recommend this little gem of a spot. There was almost no one there, now with that being said he was very swampy and wet from the previous rains. Definitely wear sneakers or some kind of hiking boots just to get through the marsh part to the sand. The beach part was very pretty and goes for a ways. Tons of shells and crab husks. Serene and quiet.

Agreed with Mark. We walked probably 250 yards straight out into the water and it was no higher than just my chest. Wear water shoes. Cold currents go through there at various depths. Very refreshing to swim. No nettles when we were there. Look out for mosquitoes on the trails.
You can but it is pretty shallow in most places. And if you have a dog make sure they have flea and tick medicine. Our first visit there we went home to find ticks all over my boyfriend and I. Our dog luckily had the pill but it is still not good. We haven't had that problem since then but you can never be too cautious.
No, swimming and beach use are prohibited because it is a nature preserve, and protected habitat.
