This is the third senior residence I have lived in over 12 years and it fits my needs very well. I changed places due to the high cost of other facilities. I feel at home and happy to be independent at age 87.

I highly recommend Brookdale Redwood City!! My mother has been living in their independent living accommodations for ~two years and we have been so impressed with how well they treat the residents. While it may not be the most updated living space, the staff makes up for it with a high degree of concern and care for the residents. They have taken extra precautions during the pandemic and have executed flawlessly - they even called me the other day to find out how they might be able to make my mother's Christmas season a little more special given the situation! What a personal touch! I am grateful to have such a great facility nearby and to know that my mom is being looked after well. And one extra note, I also really appreciate how the residents look after each other - they want to enjoy these last years in harmony and peace.

At the end of this difficult year, I started thinking about what brought us to California, i.e. our daughters, and how fortunate we have been to be at this retirement home. Brookdale, Redwood City, may not look like the most glamorous and elegant building you may encounter, but what it lacks in luxurious rugs or elegant surroundings is made up by the love and care that their staff members provide for the residents. The most important proof of this gentle and loving care, is the fact that we have had hardly any COVID in our place. It is a difficult task when dealing with seniors who may be very stubborn and set in their ways, but, with consistent instructions and consistent following of protocols, the local Brookdale has managed to keep it at bay. Upon reflection, living here has brought us peace of mind and a chance to recuperate our health. Leaving behind the chores of housekeeping and cooking and taking care of all the innumerable details that owning a house entails, has lifted lots of stress from our lives. Certainly, not having to deal with snow and winter, has been a welcomed change for us, and an added benefit to living in California. During normal times, the community has very good facilities to occupy residents such as a good-sized pool, a Fitness Center, and an activities program. Also the Dining Room staff constantly strives to improve its offerings and service. I sincerely recommend Brookdale in Redwood City for anyone who wants to have a peaceful an healthy retirement.

I went to tour this facility and Tammy showed me several rooms. The first room had mold everywhere literally in the bathroom. She said “wow they haven’t clean this up in a while”. Then she showed me the second room, and the refrigerator, which was on a pedestal for lack of a better word, had a very bad water damage.
