Paraco's customer service is atrocious and needlessly caused me to spend funds that appropriate notice could have easily prevented. Unbeknownst to me, Paraco put a delivery stop on my account because two "anode bags" supposedly needed to be installed in my propane tanks. The company did not telephone, text or email to notify me about the "stop." When the tank ran out of gas causing me to lose hot water, I called and spent money for a plumber thinking it was a plumbing issue. When the plumber informed me the tank was out of gas, I called Paraco multiple times to address the "anode bag" issue and get my tank filled. Finally I was able to set up an appointment for August 11 to have the bags installed and the tank filled the next day. Today, I called Paraco to confirm that the bags were installed and the tank filled, only to be told by Paraco that none of these things had happened and that I personally had to dig a hole so the bags could be installed. Again, Paraco neither called, texted or emailed to inform me of any of this. Of course, I am still waiting for an explanation from the manager, "Joe", who will undoubtedly never call to get this problem fixed. Worse yet, I am about to run out of propane and lose hot water again. I cannot stress enough how frustrated and disappointed I am with this company and the disregard in which they hold their customer's needs and wishes.

I have never had a negative experience with Paracogas. Their customer service people are knowledgeable and friendly and always helpful. The deliverymen are always professional, friendly, and tidy. The deliveries are always prompt. I highly recommend them to all who need propane.

I used Paraco to switch from oil to propane. And Joe Borgia is the company's best asset. He is professional and really cares about your situation. I originally thought that Wendy in dispatch/customer service was rude, but I later realized she is just direct and cares just as much as everyone else at Paraco. At the end I appreciated her honesty. Bottom line although customer service wasn't the greatest because of this, the job was ultimately done perfectly. Great installers.

I strongly recommend to anyone that is moving to Westchester County avoid Paraco Gas Corporation. My wife and I moved our family to Croton-on-Hudson in November of 2017. We live in a remote area so when we moved in we decided we needed to install a generator. We thought the quickest way to get one installed would be to stay with Paraco as they serviced the house for many years before we moved in. We called Paraco the week we moved in to start discussing our generator installation. Within a week there was a representative out to our house. We discussed our need for a generator and our strong desire to get one installed before the weather turned bad. The representative said there would be no problem and that they would handle the permitting process for us as that would be more efficient. He left and the service contracts came to us via email within 24 hours. My wife and I were happy with the attentive service thus far so we signed the contracts and sent them back. Not bad for a first week in a new house! Well now it is March 2018. I am sitting at home in a house with no power in the middle of winter storm Riley. The house is getting cold and we are considering a move to a hotel nearby to keep our children safe and warm. It is really too bad that the generator that has been sitting on my property for two months is not operational. We haven’t seen a Paraco representative on our property since that first meeting and we have to constantly call for updates on the status of our permit. From December 12 to mid February we received absolutely zero updates from Paraco despite numerous attempts at calling the representative in charge as well as the main Paraco numbers. When the representative finally did get in touch with my wife, about mid February, it was to inform us that the permit had been sitting on a desk somewhere the whole time! What excellent service. In summary I am less than pleased with Paraco Gas Corporation. It seems that they have great service until service contracts are signed. They have been horrible ever since. On top of that they act like this is business as usual, no apologies, no attentive call backs, no updates even after the mess they created.

Propane is a clean and incredibly versatile fuel source most commonly used for heating and powering certain home appliances. Stoves, barbeques, water heaters, clothes dryers, pool heat, spas, lighting and hearths are just some of the many uses for propane. Propane is also a sought-after energy choice to power standby generators.

How can I tell if there’s a propane leak in my home?

Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021
Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021

Just like with natural gas, a harmless odorant – usually mercaptan - is added by propane companies, giving propane a distinctive “rotten egg” or sulfur-like smell. If you believe there’s a gas leak, immediately evacuate everyone from the house and call your local propane provider or fire department from a neighbor’s phone or from your cell phone OUTSIDE AND CLEAR OF YOUR HOME.

Is propane safe for my family and me?

Is propane safe for the environment?

Yes. Propane is nontoxic, doesn’t contaminate aquifers or soil, and is an approved clean alternative fuel listed in the 1990 Clean Air Act.

Can a propane tank be installed somewhere other than my yard?

Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021
Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021

Yes. Underground storage tanks have specialized features allowing them to be stored beneath the surface somewhere on the consumer’s property. They are a popular option for single-family homes and housing developments and can be buried underground because propane is nontoxic and doesn’t contaminate aquifers or soil.

What size storage tank do I need if propane is my main energy source?

Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021
Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021

The best size is determined by usage requirements. Typically, a 500-gallon tank holds enough propane to meet the annual energy needs of an average four-bedroom home. There are 1,000-gallon propane cylinders which may be needed for larger homes with swimming pools, spas and hot tubs.

What is a Safety Survey? Do I need one?

Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021
Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021

During a safety survey, your technician will test your propane system for proper operation and safe installation. They will perform a test(s) on your gas line and propane container to ensure they are leak-free. They will also make sure that both the propane container and your appliances meet all National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) guidelines.

Why do I need to have a leak check?

Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021
Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021

Leak checks are required any time there is an interruption of your gas service - meaning any time the flow of gas in your home is stopped for any reason. NFPA 54 (2017) states, “Immediately after the gas is turned on into a new system or into a system that has been initially restored after an interruption of service, the piping system shall be tested for leakage. If leakage is indicated, the gas supply shall be shut off until the necessary repairs have been made.”

Why isn’t my propane container filled to 100% capacity?

Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021
Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021

Propane is delivered and stored in liquid form. Propane liquid expands nearly 17 times more quickly than water over the same temperature increase. As a result, propane containers are filled to about 80 to 85% of their capacity. This allows the propane liquid to expand freely with changes in temperature caused by hot days, cool nights, rain, snow and other factors. Because of these temperature changes, you may see fluctuations in your container gauge - this is normal.

What is a tank monitor and how does it work?

Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021
Paraco Gas | Aug 30, 2021

A tank monitor is a cellular receiver that reads the amount of propane in your propane container and sends us a report each day. It is a great solution for customers who aren’t eligible for automatic delivery because they have a “sporadic use” appliance such as a fireplace, pool heater or generator. Contact your local branch for information about an optional monitor service. You do not have to be home for any monitor installation or service.
