Been wanting to go this area for a long time ever since I’ve been going to the Museum of Natural History because Stissing Mountain and Thompson Pond Preserve is featured prominently as a diorama in the Hall of New York State Environment

Great hike & heart pumping. All uphill with rock scrambling to get to tower. We took the blue trail back down, not as steep. Many muddy spots, hey it's April & expected. Fantastic views from the tower. I only climbed 3 of the flights on the tower, just to see above the treeline. If it wasn't so windy I would have climbed to the top.

A good spot to go when you're quarantined and just want to get out of the house. The parking lot is across the street from the trailhead but it fills up fast and can only accommodate 10-13 cars, get there early. The hike takes less than an hour if you're in decent shape. It's fairly steep but not all that challenging.

Trail was muddy at times but in great shape. Not very well blazed, lost them a few times, but pretty well worn. Did it with 3 kids and a dog without an issue. If you stay to the right at the "Y" it's longer but not as steep. Beautiful view from the tower, definitely worth the climb!
