I'm not gonna lie. I'm obsessed with Outlander, and there's a whole season that takes place in this area with a big battle right here at Alamance Battleground. But I still mostly went here for the walking trails, which are fairly nice. They're not overgrown and there are educational signs about the Revolutionary War and native plant life all along the trails. There's also a historic farmhouse where the public can learn about life during the time in history. Warning: multiple signs are posted about black bear sightings, so stay vigilant.

Very well maintained historical site.

This is a very underrated yet important historical site. The Visitor Center is small, but it houses the very interesting 20 min video on the events leading up to the battle. The docent/lady, gave just my wife and I, a custom tour. She was extremely knowledgeable about the entire history of all that was discussed. The deciding factor in the battle was the cannons Gov. Tryon had on his side. The size used are fully on display in the Center and outside. The Allen house is also very interesting.

This is a very good place to go and learn about this county's history. The staff person was very knowledgeable. It also had a short film which was informative as well. I'm really glad my husband and I took the time to visit. We learned quite a bit!!

I would call to find out. I have not done the tour in a while.
You have to apply for a department of cultural and natural resources career. I believe its ncjobs.com. You could always ask about volunteer possibilities in ths visitors center.
