Excellent ride. A good test for a rider. Will be back to do the trail again.

It teaches the public, all about the Black River canal lock systems , which moved products from north to south in the early 1800's! It's a great learning experience for adults and children!

Lots of local info and pictures and books; great hands-on stuff for kids! And a playground across the street for bored kids and mom's when dads want to read a little more than the family does!! If you travel north on 12 you can then stop and see one of the locks up close; Lyons Falls public Library has more local history and photos, too!

My kids love the museum's hands on lock system and little boats. I practicality had to tear them away. Its small, but if your looking for something educational, fun, and not overwhelming for kids 5-11 this is great. Plus with the Boonville park and swimming area on the other side of Route 12 and Mercer's Ice Cream a few minutes down the road this is a perfecr summer afternoon. Be aware the museam isn't always open so call first.
