Take our dog here for vet care. Wonderful vet with convenient drop off availability. The staff from the desk, the techs, the vets are all top notch and wonderful people.

I have never written a review--of anything--but I feel obligated to warn the public about this clinic. Do not take your animal here. They did not treat my cat's ringworm effectively--I had to switch clinics to get it under control, after many months of stress for my cat, which included multiple visits (where we often had to wait for over an hour). Also, I noticed that someone below wrote that she could hear the vet techs/staff making unprofessional comments about her animal in the backroom. I had the same experience. Finally, I was speaking to another person who had a bad experience here as well just the other day, which prompted me to write this. She had a terrible experience here, much worse than mine. She may write about it here.

All of the staff consistently taking amazing care of my dogs as if the two of them were family. I trust them. Dr. Wechter spent so much time individualizing plans for each and even helped me figure out appropriate weight and calorie need for each.

My husband and I and our two dogs, along with my 86 year old mother and her dog, recently moved to Cooperstown. On Friday, July 21st, while I was sitting in Basset ER with my mother who was experiencing heart-related issues, her dog, distraught and searching for her, got away from my husband and was hit by a car. The gentleman who hit Cooper immediately stopped, as did an off-duty State Trooper who was behind the car that hit my Mom's dog. We live less than 5 minutes from Cooperstown Veterinary Clinic and both the gentleman and the State Trooper accompanied my husband to the clinic. My husband walked into the clinic with Cooper wrapped in a towel, who was bleeding, and explained that Cooper had been hit by a car and pleaded for help. The staff member behind the counter literally threw her hands in the air and said "we can't do anything!" Evidently, there was not a vet on the premises, although their hours of operation state they are open from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm and it was 4:00 pm. There was no compassion or assistance offered. There was another staff member present and she repeated the message that nothing could be done to help this dog, however, she was kind enough to call Heritage Veterinary to see if they could help. Heritage told her that the doctor was "just leaving" - obviously not concerned enough or willing to remain a few minutes to help an injured animal. (BTW, their website states "24/7 Emergency Care!"). Ignoring an injured animal struck by a vehicle, having untrained attendants and no qualified licensed professional on site is professional misconduct in my opinion. If you are looking for a compassionate, caring, well-staffed veterinary facility to care for your pets, stay away from this place!!
