Clean well spread out beautiful hike around lake

Very nice campground and the bathrooms were better than most state campgrounds. Sites were away from the lake but very well maintained. Will be back for sure for a longer stay.

Nice campground close to everything the Adirondacks have to offer and cheaper sites than others nearby, good lake for some kayaking, fishing or swimming at the beach with a walking trail all the way around. Small playground and a basketball hoop for the kids (dogs not allowed in this area which was unfortunate, we had to walk back to camp and leave her there although she is very well behaved). Bathroom and showers are clean, our site was right next to them and we saw workers come to do cleaning each day.

Much better campground than Fish Creek Pond. That one was a serious disappointment. The sites are mostly better spaced here at Nick's Lake Campground, there's no motor boats on the lake here, so none of that kind of noise, and this has modern shower facilities, and many of them where Fish Creek Pond only had one. The showers here, you can hold the button in to keep it to stay on. Fish Creek Pond had no grille grates for it's campsite camp fires, this has them. Though here, they are raised high so you need to use a lot of wood. You can't cook with kindling easily. Cumberland Bay State Park had the low ring shaped campfire emplacements where you could cook with kindling. The beach itself was nice, the buildings adjacent to it were a little run down. The recycling and garbage site was well organized. I wasn't an RVer but this place seems to be popular for them. Did not notice any electrical hook ups along the multiple sites I walked passed by. There's a trail along the lake that is on the difficult side. On the map it may not look long, but it winds a bit, has sharp hills, muddy parts, and large tree roots that can be tripped over. There's a foot bridge over what appears to be an inlet to the lake that people were fishing off of. This bridge is also part of a trail. By the beach there is a modern playground. There are also picnic tables and elevated grilles. The grilles here you can get by with some kindling or charcoal. Some camp sites seem close to the lake where you can keep a canoe or kayak. I liked this place, Nick's Lake Campground and Cumberland Bay State Park, both good experiences. Oh and you might hear something that sounds like a coyote or wolf howl, it is probably more likely the Loons, a type of large bird that is common here.
