House of Hope is a wonderful organization. It is a great place to work. It will always be special to me.

They were incredibly helpful in my dire need. I was there in 1988 they helped me secure 707 and a apartment in 30 days! Me and my daughter who is now 34 were able to raise her

It really doesn't deserve more then a single star. The staff gossip about the shelter residents with each other and also with (favorite) residents. The food is inedible to the point that you have to buy and microwave your food, I do not eat meat haven't in 28 years and they basically told me to starve because it wasn't for a religion. I lost 18 lbs my first month there. My children have now become the worse picky eaters. Once ready to relocate they refused to help me advocate for an apartment unless it was local even though I'm from over 30+ miles away. Several staff members are high on their shift I mean I thought this place was going to help me start my life over but now almost 2 years after leaving this place I'm still stuck here in Lowell and they do not honor the DHCD rule of doing a wellness check on the families that 1st year, never came once. I went there with PTSD, Anxiety and broken but left with those and thanks to living there for almost 2 miserable years I left with major depression on top of that!! Seriously you're only a check to these people they treat you worse then dirt. And I know this is a horrible review but it's an honest one I would never bad mouth a place I mean i can be sued if it was lies but I am not worried I have everything documented and recorded but this shelter will crush your spirit please If you're referred here try and fight it they do not deserve the funding. And please drug test the staff I mean a 1/4 piece of straw what else is that for???

I would recommend this place to any family in need they are good and take care of their resident very well

You can apply for emergency shelter by calling the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). Please call (866) 584-0653 and speak with a Homeless Coordinator for assistance.
It is only for homeless families you need to have young children or be pregnant to even be considered. Also calling them will do nothing they do not control who stays there. You must apply with the department of transitional assistance and they will place you if you qualify and you may be placed in any shelter within the state if Massachusetts
Donations for the store can be dropped off anytime at 520 Fletcher Street in Lowell which is just minutes away from the store. Thanks for asking!
Hi Sheila, Thank you for thinking of us but we do not take used cell phones. There are a number of great charities that repurpose/recycle cell phones. You can find more info here: https://electronics.howstuffworks.com/donate-cell-phone-charity.htm
