We were visiting from California when we visited El patron. We almost went more than once while we were in new York. Great atmosphere, great staff, the food is unbelievably delicious, the mole incredible and I really wish I could have got them to jar up the salsa and start a monthly subscription delivery. It is THE BEST SALSA I've ever had!!!

The shockingly rude owner lets the kitchen team down and ruin the experience. I found the food to be enjoyable but the owner's treatment was absolutely poor. He was confrontational on top of being unprofessional. We were outdoor seating and it was a +90° day so we requested more water to drink, he told us that he's the one paying for the water while we drink for free, even though we were paying customers eating the food. One of my friends who's a vegan unwrapped her burrito mid-dining and discovered a piece of meat. She brought it to his attention to be taken out of the bill and she refused to eat anything else. He told her that she should've stopped eating from the first place (burrito was wrapped?). And when she felt very uncomfortable, upset and couldn't look at his face while stating her case, he told her to look him in the face while talking to him. Cherry on top? When we paid as quickly as we could so that we could get out of this place, we waited for our ride share service on the street. He told us to move away to clear the sidewalk. Even though we're not in front of his shop and on public property. This was a memorable experience for me personally to witness his shocking behavior in treating his customers.

The place is cozy and decor attractive. The food was decent, meat excellent, portions gigantic but somehow it didn’t quite work for us. Bloody Mary was straight horrible. When it first came out it was so salty that if most likely contained a weekly amount of recommend dose of sodium. It soon turned out it was to mask the lack of alcohol in the cocktail. Our server was kind enough to bring us complimentary shots but we made a mistake of mixing those into the drinks instead of downing them straight up. It didn’t go well. Now we had super salty drinks. Service was polite and efficient. Perhaps we just didn’t make the right choices. Horchata was delicious!

This place is close to home and it’s the perfect place to go for lunch or dinner. The settling makes you feel like you’re in a different place. The staff were attentive and pleasant :) The food came out quickly; fresh well done and seasoned to perfection. My shrimp hard shell tacos were yummy! They have dine-in and take-out options. When visiting the Flatbush/ Prospect Park area, GO HERE!
