This review is only for the boat rental operation at Stonebridge Marina….We are intermediate boaters with a couple of hundred hours on the ocean in mostly sailing vessels around the Maine islands and some motor boating. We rented the 21’ Hydra-Sport bowrider boat on a beautiful late August morning. We motored out through Onset Harbor, down through Buzzards Bay, riding the current down to Bassets Harbor. We dropped the anchor at Bassets and jumped out for a swim, it was choppy but pleasant. Next, we headed out to Scraggy Head Cove/Meganset Harbor, dropped anchor and went for a swim in pretty calm water (lots of jellies). It was a beautiful sunny morning, no wind and 75 degrees. The boat was fine on the way down out of Onset and through Buzzards Bay at the peak of high tide. We really appreciated the sun protection from the Bimini cover. We dealt with a broken gas gauge and a broken depth finder. The steering was stiff and the boat was very easy to oversteer but not too big of a deal, we figured it out but it was not easy to maneuver especially when returning to the dock. On our way back up north to return the boat to Onset, we felt that the boat was underpowered and unstable in Buzzards Bay. We had five adults in the boat. The large ocean swells from other boat’s wakes plus large choppy waves from normal canal conditions came from every direction and tossed us around wildly as we fought our way back up north and into Onset Harbor through the Hog Island channel. We all held on for dear life. I was very happy that the 140 HP motor did not overheat, it was working hard to slowly make any headway while we were motoring in the opposite direction of the current. We finally made it back to Onset, struggled a bit to get the boat docked in the tight space at a lower tide moving channel after entering back under the bridge because of the wonky steering. We managed to get the boat back in one piece, unloaded the boat with the friendly marina staff and then - we all kissed the ground and gave high fives for not sinking the boat. The 21’ Hydrasport seemed fine for a motor around onset Harbor but I don’t think it was large enough or had enough HP to get us through Buzzards Bay safely. We decided that we will go with a larger boat with more HP for our future boating adventures in this area.

Have rented many times and has always been a great experience at a very fair rate. Highly recommend

We sat in a secluded area. We sat on the sand by the stone bridge. My grandson is 5 and he went in swimming, looked for sea creatures. We saw crabs and snails and small fish. Very clean.
