Bow Fishing with Cap Barnes was amazing. He has just the right moxy for a trip of this sort. Place is easy to find and even easier on the beautiful lake. Cap Barnes covered all safety, set up and was informative the entire time , ie location, seasonal effects, fish habits. A true expert in his field. You need nothing for this trip and even the most beginners will have ease fishing. Although our team wasn't a sure shot it was not lacking plenty of fish. Cap found all the spots with ease. Highly recommend and super affordable!

Went out for a snow goose hunt with Capt. Jay. Friday night in the hunting lodge was nice but the cable was out (Big sports game on that night...no sports) and the internet was out. Also, beds were a bit rough... if recommend a local hotel (cheaper). There were other guest staying there that night of which we were not informed (nice guys from NYC but loud sleepers and there are 4 beds in 1 hallway). The other guys (from NYC) told us that they didnt see a bird during their Friday hunt. It turns out that we were going to the blind that these guys had not seen a bird the day before. Hopeful, we got up and followed the guide to the preset blind. When we arrived at the blind there were about 500 decoys out in front of it but the decoys had been there for a long time. It had snowed a few inches the day before and all the decoys had about an inch of snow covering them. We have been snow goose hunting before and know from experience that these birds will not come into range if they think something is fishy. SO, without the guides help we went and cleaned off as many birds as possible and tried to make the best of a poor situation. We then sat in the blind (no heater) for the next 4 hours and saw lots of birds about 5 miles off. Other than that action....crickets. Capt. Jay does not follow the birds well, he probably hunted that field for weeks. There was no action from the previous hunters yet he did not want to change location or do any other prep in anyway. It would have been a great hunt if we wanted to just sit an drink coffee all morning but that is not why we paid all this money. IF guests are not seeing game for days on end, it is your duty as a guide to scout birds, move locations and put the client in the best position possible for a successful hunt. We did not feel like this guy did that at all, or make any attempt to improve the situation after we didn't see a thing on our first day. After that experience we went back to the lodge. The NYC hunters were there and they told us that they didn't see ANYTHING on day 2 of their hunt. We were scheduled (AGAIN) to follow them to the blind that didnt have any birds the following day. My group went out to dinner and we discussed options.... Luckily for us, we had met some locals at a store we stopped at after our Saturday hunt and had a conversation about the terrible snow goose hunt. They informed us that they knew a guy who was great, will set up where the bird are and knew what he was doing. We called this guy from his Facebook account and he luckily had some other hunters cancel on him last minute. We booked with him for Sunday. We went back to the lodge and talked with Capt.Jay. We told him that we were not happy with the hunt and would settle up right now (~1000$). We stayed in the lodge that night and bailed early in the morning to go with another guide. Our Sunday hunt was amazing, full lay out blinds, dogs, set up 1200+ decoys (we helped, as expected), saw tons of birds, killed a bunch of them (should have brought the 10 gauge), cost less money and had a great time. I would not recommend this guy.... I was very let down by the service, the lodge and the guiding. Save yourself some money. Edit: We understand that hunting is not 100% but not being able to even change locations or do any leg work after multiple clients were skunked is poor business. And it shows even more so when we switched guides the next day and had a GREAT hunt.

I purchased a Turkey hunt at the NY State DU Convention that was donated by Frontenac Fowlers. I took my friend Mike Ernst who is 65 and never killed a turkey. We had a great hunt Jay put us on birds and went out of his way to accommodate Mike. We had a great hunt in the birds all morning and Mike killed his first turkey. Thanks for the hunt and the memories.Great job Jay
