Rescued my second kitty here and I loved my experience here. The shelter worked quickly to contact my landlord and vet so my application could be fully processed. They were so great to help me find a good fit in the middle of the pandemic and with me living in MA. We took a huge leap of faith thanks to their help and it was exactly the perfect fit we were hoping for. My grandfather has also volunteered here regularly over the years and it wasn’t my first visit, but was what ultimately brought me to search so far and I’m so glad I did. Crickett (formerly Frankie) has a great big personality and fits in with the family great. Thank you guys again!

Had two kittens fixed at their clinic (a neuter and a spay). Wonderful experience. Female kitten was in heat and still underwent surgery. Both kittens healthy and happy afterwards!! Staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

I live in Billerica, MA and saw a cat on Adopt a Pet website that looked like my cat that had gone missing. I really wanted the cat that they had as I felt a special bond to her as I knew she was originally a feral and had never had a family. I drove 2 1/2 hours up there to get her and wasn't sure what the shelter would be like as I've seen some bad situations in the past. I walked in and there were cats roaming around the shelter freely and sitting in chairs getting attention as if they lived there. I walked through the doorway to where there were many cats (about 60+) and every cage had either beds in them or at least something comfortable for them to lie on and feel warmth and comfort. Almost all had their cage doors opened and were freely walking around and some on cat trees at various levels, others up on the window sill in cat beds, but none looking sad or abused. They are very loving people that work there, many that give up their time for free to help care for these cats. They initially tried to talk me into getting a different cat as my cat was extremely timid and I think they were concerned that I wouldn't want to keep her. I had my mind and heart set on my little girl and convinced them that this was the cat I had to have. After confirming with my Vet that I was a responsible pet owner, and making me promise that should I ever have to bring her back to a shelter I would make the hike back to them so they could take her back in (as they developed quite an attachment to her after having her from about 10 weeks to over a year), they let me adopt her. I knew they wanted her back there so they knew she would always have a loving home should she not work out with me. I told them I would send them photos of her from time to time so they could see for themselves if she was content or not and I still send them photos every so often (just under two years now), and they are very happy to see that she's settled and very much loved. I enjoy getting their flyers and you can see how lucky these cats are as they have more of a home than a shelter. This is a super shelter and these cats are very lucky to have these people caring for them. Can't say enough good things about them!

We don't at this time but we do keep a waiting list. Please feel free to visit our website and submit an application. That way we'll have your contact information so we can reach out if we have any kittens in need of loving homes. Thank you!
Hi Rose, we do not offer payment plans for fees to adopt cats or kittens. Are you referring to a payment plan though for veterinary/medical care? We do not have a vet on staff and so, aside from our monthly spay/neuter clinics when the vet visits the shelter, we do not offer medical services.
Sorry, not at the moment.
Hi Sheila, it is $40 for the surgery, but they are also required to be up-to-date on their rabies vaccine the day of surgery. If they are not, we can administer it for $10. Please visit this link for more information on our spay/neuter clinics: http://www.secondchancear.org/home/programs Thank you!
Welcome to the area Louann! Please visit http://www.secondchancear.org/home/meet_our_cats to read about our adoption policies and to submit an adoption application. Once approved, we'll contact you to set up a time to meet the cats. We also have photos and descriptions of the cats/kittens on Petfinder.com, Adoptapet.com, and on our Facebook page. Thank you for your interest!
Yes they do
They only take cats to rehome.
I would check out Rover.com and Petsitter.com. It can help to connect you with pet sitters in your area. Many vet's offices and other places in the area provide boarding services for pets but it sounds like you're hoping to have someone visit your house to administer the insulin, so I would definitely look into some of these online services that hook you up with sitters. Many of them allow folks to leave reviews for sitters and help you to set up interviews with sitters ahead of time. Good luck!
Hi Deb, we are currently a cat-only shelter, so we only have kittens (Spring/Summer months) and cats. Thank you for your interest!
We don't have any more shot clinics scheduled for this year unless things change. You might try contacting Tractor Supply. They have them at least once a month.
We would be happy to show you the correct way to trim your cat's nails.
No, we do not have dogs. We are a cat specific shelter only. Thank you for asking.
Yes we do! It is helpful if you visit the shelter to get acquainted with them.
Sorry, we only have cats for adoption, though we do see dogs at our spay/neuter and vaccine clinics.
