OMG i never see a place with price like that... just ridiculous with Doritos at 5.39$+txs in special... no fresh food like sandwich or anything.... i think it had 2-3 employees in the floor... a dump place... i had a positive view of Shaws in New Hampshire and other place but after go to this place... never again Shaws...

I came in to purchase donuts for my children as a special treat. It was 7:50 am on a weekday, and the store opened at 7 am. No one was around in the bakery. The donut cupboard had dirty handles, and no boxes were out at all at all for taking baked goods. I waited for 5 minutes at the deli to get help from them (while also waiting for someone to show up at the bakery). Her comment to me was "well, I don't work in the bakery" when I asked for a box for donuts. (She had a pile of deli sandwich boxes and I was hoping to snag just one). She went and gave me a box from the back of the bakery (it was dirty on the outside AND inside), then she brought out a few more (clean) boxes to restock the bakery. The first donut I grabbed out of the case was rock hard (it was supposed to be a frosted yeast donut). The cinnamon roll I grabbed seemed okay, but a little wet for a fresh roll. The second yeast roll I grabbed was also rock hard. I took them to the manager on duty, and he agreed that it was not really that fresh, and told me I could speak to the bakery manager when they arrived. I told him that this was not acceptable freshness and cleanliness for a store that has been open for an hour (and probably had workers an hour earlier who should have been restocking). I also did not want to wait around for someone to show up. My review is specific to my bakery/ deli visit only. However, I would be hard-pressed to return to this particular Shaw's location in the immediate future. Update 2-10-22: after my initial post, I was invited by Shaw's to come back at another time, to give them another opportunity to show that this was not the typical experience at their location. I have been back numerous times since, and have been satisfied to highly satisfied with how they maintain their store, fresh goods, etc. I am happy to update the starts from a 2 (original post) to a 4 (today's rating). One major concern- The store is often too cluttered/ too little space near the registers. It might be worth losing a few feet of retail space to keep customers better spaced, and to allow store traffic to move at the front of the store.

Nice store with everything one would want. Love the olive bread! Have gone to two different Shaw's now and found both the same quality except the one in Stowe is smaller by about half. Being smaller they seem to work harder at being just as good as their bigger store.

Have most of the grocery item and other stuff too, baby food to frozen food. They should start keeping some VT souvenirs (like magnets or post cards) too
