I just tried to go to the post office for the first time. The older woman working (Saturday 7/9/22 at 11:12am) was completely rude and unprofessional and laughed at us when we said we needed labels and we didn’t know the timing difference between priority and regular. I have never felt more belittled in my life.

Each time I visit the APO for stamps or mailing packages I am impressed by how little time I wait in line. I'm observing the attendants at the window dealing with customers before me to be professional, efficient and courteous. If a customer in front of me has an especially complicated request, the attendant will ask them to step aside and wait, so they can assist the next customer in line. I thank them for the COVID-19 update of the retail space with plexiglass, signage, covered payment machines , masks and sanitizer.

Has got to be the worst post office in America. The younger man at the help desk is absolutely horrible, slow and very unpleasant. He seems to be unhappy with his job and shouldn't be working in customer service. Do yourself a favor and find a nearby PO. DO NOT GO THERE!!!

Not sure how many stars should go to an operation where there are just TOO MANY workers who are lackadaisical and inattentive. Although they do have some very competent workers, management doesn't do much to rectify the problem with the incompetent ones. Have tried prior to call the problem to their attention by going in there in person. But still the problem persists. Hence my 1 star review with OPEN public complaint. When I first moved to Ayer and was expecting important mail, it was NOT delivered to my mail box. The 'reason' they gave me was because my name was not on the mail box and they could not deliver mail UNLESS the person's name was on the mailbox. But, no one else's name was on their mailbox either. But their mail got delivered. Guess what? After I put MY name on the mailbox, they delivered mail to OTHER people to it. Imagine that a PO with a requirement that your name needs to be on the mailbox SO they can deliver OTHER people's mail to it and put your mail in OTHER people's mail boxes once you put your name on your mailbox. Needless to say, (well would be needless to say to COMPETENT workers. But incompetence is at issue here.), the whole purpose of having one's name on the mailbox is SO the carrier can put the mail in the right mailbox. It isn't a go-ahead to MISDIRECT the mail. Calling this to their attention in person has brought little resolve to the issue. Apparently, apartment buildings are too much of a 'brain strain' for some of their mail carriers. Their response to misdirected apartment mail was something to the effect of; 'Well, we have different carriers.' The implication seemed to be that the carrier needed time on some learning curve in order to distinguish all the different NUMBERS from 1-12 on the mailboxes. Seriously, how LOW IQ can you get if you need more 'practice' to tell the difference from numbers 1-12! Although I realize sometimes a mistake can be made, but with the Ayer PO, it's just TOO MANY times it's done. Some months back they put my bank statements in someone else's box. I was lucky it went to an honest neighbor who put it in front of my door. But still, it's an example of how their INATTENTIVE workers can put someone at risk for a PRIVACY VIOLATION. Also, it's not uncommon to see resident's FIRST CLASS mail on the top of the ledger of the mail boxes in our building. It means the carrier put them in the wrong mailbox and the mailbox holder needed to put them on the ledger. Yet another example of subjecting the rightful recipient to a privacy violation. During the Christmas season, only 20% of my cards actually got delivered to the recipients. Some time before that there was a person in front of me with dozens and dozens of boxes to be delivered. The postal worker spent excess SOCIAL time, shooting the breeze with him. So who knows if this 'great customer service' applies to those who are buddies of the workers or maybe it applies to people in single family homes where the worker has only ONE number to learn as to which house it goes to. Today, they put my neighbor's mail with the NAME and NUMBER clearly written on it into my mailbox that also had MY name and number clearly written on it. Shout out to the Ayer post office. Remember, we are AmeriCANS and not AmeriCAN'TS and US Postal SERVICE should mean just that and not US Postal DISSERVICE.

Questions & Answers

Does anyone know whether the Ayer Post Office is open on Labor Day (tomorrow)? It says "hours may differ" on the website. Thanks.
