Everything was good except TV operation. Roku tv and no one with know how to get local/network live programing. Not necessarily problem with all rooms.

This is a motel that has been in Woodstock for years. The advertising made it seem they had remodeled and changed it into a hotel. The rooms open onto the main street and it may be difficult to get rooms together. Rooms at the ends of the building did not get good WiFi or cell (AT&T) cell coverage. All this would have been fine if advertised as such. Unfortunately I felt misled When I discovered it was a motel. I did get good customer care and refunds.

We loved every minute of our stay at The Shire! From the warm, welcoming text message to the gracious check out text message, we were treated as valued guests. Alena and Owen provided outstanding customer service, our room was perfect, the views spectacular, it was so quiet, the mattress and pillows divine, it was super easy to control the room's temperature, and it's only a 10 minute easy walk to the center of town. We highly recommend staying at The Shire when you're visiting Woodstock VT!

I normally don’t write reviews but, the photo and description of what I thought I was getting from there website did not match at all from the room I was given , or even the location, it was in a separate “cape house” the cape house has a “city view” which basically means it ground level motel style , and looking in the parking lot with a ton of windows. The rooms are paper thin and this family of like 10 people was staying in the adjoining room and would open and slam the doors every 5 seconds as it’s a shared entrance. For a price of 2,000$ for a 3 night stay was a terrible choice. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Don’t stay……
