It’s taken me close to a year to write this review. I had to make sure I wasn’t letting my emotions rule my thoughts here. I moved my mother into Atria Crossgates back in February 2021 after a diagnosis of Terminal Cancer the year before. She was still getting around on her own and her chemo tx had given her some relief and extra time. At the interview and admission the staff were all very nice and expressed their excitement at having my mother join their community. My mother was experiencing a lot of anxiety over her diagnosis and how long she had left and they set her up with their community doctor. At first he would come see her weekly but then wires started getting crossed and direction on how to get prescriptions renewed or set up appointments became a little confusing. Nothing awful though and we worked it out. She enjoyed her time there and interacting with other residents. Fast forward to May/June and my mothers cancer became active again and started progressing. Without chemo she was given a few months and out on hospice. I knew this to be an option so I called several times to see how being on hospice worked with being an independent resident at the assisted living place. I could never get a call back or a straight answer. One employee would tell me it wasn’t an issue and another said it wasn’t possible. Additionally we were getting to the point where I might have to get her off independent status and onto “program” as they called it. Again that was a nightmare to figure out how to handle logistically and with the differing answers from different staff it made the entire situation so difficult during an already very hard time. I kept being told she seemed fine and didn’t need to be on program - from a woman who seemed to have no medical background. Yet her hospice nurse clearly felt differently. Finally it came to a head when my mother got confused and took too much of her medication - which could have been avoided had they helped me get her on a medication assistance program - and couldn’t seem to get out of bed and was extremely lethargic. Hospice came and it was determined she definitely needed additional assistance which the home advised me they offered. One of the managers clearly told me it was an option but suddenly it no longer was. I had less than an hour to pack up my mother and move her somewhere. Which ended up being with me and I was woefully unprepared for it. I couldn’t believe how callous they were in kicking her out and not offering any of the additional services they told me were available at an additional cost - which I was more than willing to pay. Thank God Hospice helped me find a wonderful comfort home in the area who took my mom in and cared for her 24/7 until she took her last breaths 2 months later. I guess the moral here is this a good place if your parent has years left and is 100% cognitively aware and functioning well.

The decision to transition my Dad to assisted living was perhaps the most difficult of my adult life. My family searched for months for the right place. Thank heavens we found Atria Crossgate. They provided my Dad with a loving, caring, safe environment. When he had difficulties adjusting to his new surroundings, Krystin Ganim and her staff were compassionate and understanding. Once settled in, Atria Crossgate offered an engaging staff, fine cuisine, and more activities than I could count. More importantly, once COVID appeared, they were on their game, locking down and instituting precautionary protocols ahead of CDC guidelines, making sure my Dad was safe, and keeping my family in the loop every step of the way. I could not ask for a better partner in caring for my Dad than the folks at Atria Crossgate.

My Dad just moved in but I have to give this place 5 stars just based on the admission process. My sister and I met with Jennifer back in December for a tour after a few long months of trying to find a facility for our Dad. She was so genuine, empathetic, and informative. We left feeling very optimistic for the first time in months. Facility is clean and well kept with friendly staff and residents. Throughout the next steps she was communicative and was nice enough to hold one of the last available rooms There were some hiccups with the records at his current facility but she remained patient and understanding. The nurse even drove all the way to Ithaca to evaluate our Dad in person and in a timely manner. Since moving in last weekend, they have been keeping lines of communication open letting us know of his progress and how he is adjusting. So far we are extremely happy and excited to see how our Dad adjusts to living here!

We couldn't be happier with this place for my mom! We looked at a bunch of places around and chose Atria because the residents and staff were the so friendly and nice. From the first day we walked in the check out the community through today, they couldn't be nicer. Everyone from the waitstaff (Jen is superior) to the director treats my mom like a queen.
