I had high praises in October 2020, when I first went to Ellenton Family Dental. Dr. Whaley is a great, gentle, soft spoken Dentist and his assistant and one lady in the office took great care of me. I got an amazing discount as a new patient and they made sure, that I was not over charged. Then when after seeing Dr. Whaley twice, was told that he has no opening, when I needed an appointment, was passed on to a female dentist in the office...(sorry, forgot her name)... I always paid my bills in full before I left the office. Yesterday I had a cleaning, and asked if the dentist could adjust my flipper that has been too lose. After the cleaning the female dentist came in and started to scrape my teeth and I asked what she was doing and she replied that she was doing the exam..... I did not asked for an exam and told her so. so she adjusted my flipper. They checked my file and said that I had my last exam 6 month ago. I asked what that would cost me, and if it was necessary, and she left the room without answering me. The hygienist said it was the law to get an exam and x-rays once a year... she said, that I was ok, since I had it done 6 month ago. When I came to the front office to pay for my cleaning, I said I would like to use my discounted plan. The young lady was very "snippy" and told me, that I cannot use the plan and send the bill in the get refunded by Aetna....??? Then I asked how much I saved with my discount plan and she said that there was a "balance" of $ 49 outstanding from my visit on 3-1-2022. ??? Since I paid my bill in full, and came to the office again on 3-10-22 and there was no "balance" I asked for an explanation. All I got was: That is what I see in my computer, and I did not check you out on 3-1-2022....???? I asked too speak to the "office manager" Susan, which was even worse! She could not explain the magically appearance of the "balance" $49 and insisted on me paying it. I said over and over, that I got a bill and receipt on 3-1-22 which I paid in full and I will not pay for an unexplained amount 3 month later. She said, if I don't pay the "balance" they cannot see me anymore.... I asked to speak to Dr. Whaley, which I was denied. I do not think that Dr. Whaley knows about what is going on in his front office and how his patients get treated, but I have no way of informing him about this. I broke down in the office crying, because I was so happy to have found a wonderful dentist, and then being "kicked out" because I will not pay bogus charges....

This office is a joke. They rescheduled me 6 or 7 times because the Dr was not feeling well. I waited almost two months to have an appointment with the doctor to fix the tooth that was not treated properly in the first place, and left me with pain, sensitivity and not being able to chew on that side for two months. Today was the day and they canceled me again. This is too many reschedules in such a short time frame.

Waited months to sit with the dentist to have a simple procedure done. Every time the appointment came the dentist cancelled or didn't show. The staff would reschedule me for the next available appointment which was always over a month out. The dentist has no showed or cancelled multiple times now. 6 months later I still haven't seen the dentist and will be looking elsewhere.

Had a great experience with Ellenton Family Dental today. While it was only a regular checkup with X-rays and cleaning every step from scheduling to check out was handled efficiently and by the nicest Most competent people you could ask for. The hygienist provided the most thorough cleaning I have ever received Prices were fair and competitive.
