Having lived in many cities in U.S. during my working years in various city governments, Bradenton is the worst. Haven't had yard waste pick up in over a month, no responses to email sent to City Hall. See many driving violations and speeders...assuming it's not a priority with police department. Definitely looking to move out of this poorly taken care of area to some place better managed.

Building Department is Top of the Line - helpful, fast, efficient. Thank you Casandra and Staff!

Bad City Management. Unfriendly. Unfair. No empathy. Code enforcement is unwilling to apply the law in the way it is written. Code enforcement officers are actively spying on the poor on an ongoing basis. Elderly people for forced out of their homes because of tiny issues like broken windows, mildew and week. Anybody should check city hall. Full of mildew. Downtown is a dirt hole. However, the are patronizing the poor with a complete overreaching ordinance IPMC.

On Christmas Eve my parents water line busted on their property. I called the emergency line for the utilities department and reported that my parents, age 93 & 91, water had been off for about an hour. Mr Clifford Sharp, a supervisor for the department had his men; Quinton Glover, Gregory McLean & Demarcus Eldridge, without hesitation, came to the residence and repaired the broken connection with the utmost professionalism and courtesy above & beyond their realm of responsibilities and refused any type of compensation for their heart filled efforts. I would love to thank each of these gentlemen once again for coming out on Christmas Eve to help out my elderly parents. Clifford Sharp, God bless you for being the wonderful person you are & your men for their services. It’s people like you who make the world a wonderful place. Much appreciated!!! Merry Christmas and god bless 💙

Questions & Answers

Why is there not a live person to answer the phone. Automation isnt friendly. And loooong drawn out messages that didnt include the department I was looking for. I don't know if the actual door are open. But I need to know.

Hi Robin - Yes, our City Hall doors are open. I'm so sorry that your experience on the phone was frustrating. Thank you for pointing out the issue, though, because it led to us being able to re-set the system. The phone will be answered by our switchboard operator when possible, and if the automated system kicks in, users can select 0 to get to the operator or leave a message for her to return your call. Have a great day!

Where can I get a copy of my property survey?

Please call our Planning Department at (941) 932-9422. I believe they might have that information, and if not, they would know exactly where you could find it. I apologize in advance if this results in more than one extra phone call for you.

I want to replace my decking with "composite" lumber. I'm making no changes to the actual structure and will use the existing framework. Do I need a permit to do the repairm?
