My belief is anyone placing their family member in a facility wants to be reassured they will be taken care of, including providing a well balanced meal. After working at this facility as a caregiver, I honestly wonder why the health department has not been contacted. The roaches are as big as my pinky finger, the food is horrible, causing the residents to have diarrhea all the time. When certain foods are served we know as caregivers we will be extremely busy cleaning the residents throughout the night. Waking them up at 11,1,3,5 am, or at least checking them. Which is a normal schedule for incontinent residents . So it’s imperative these residents are changed as much as possible. One resident is a danger to himself and the staff, threatening them, yelling, screaming, cussing because he’s being checked. Yet the facility will not remove him. He has numerous complaints from staff about his behavior. The residents who are cognitive can live in their apartment as they choose. Their room temps are set at 80 degrees, extremely hot when providing care for a residents who’s weight is bigger than normal, or cleaning mounds of diarrhea. Literally you will pass out from the heat, and the smell of their room. Housekeeping does a poor job, aesthetically the place looks clean, but it’s not clean. Some of the residents do not belong there, but because they are cash paying residents they are allowed to stay. Those totally dependent, unable to do anything for themselves. Caregivers are trained in how to move residents properly. These residents abuse, attack and make the caregivers job impossible to do, because they want to control and tell the caregiver how to provide care to them, putting the caregiver at risk for back injuries as well as the residents. Management allows this. These residents really should be given a higher level of care, such as a Skilled Nursing Facility. Do your homework, research when placing your loved one in any facility. It’s a lot of hard work caring for residents, and when a facility is short staffed that makes the caregivers job even more difficult to provide the level of care they deserve. Most facilities are short staffed too. Consider what’s important to you when deciding to place a loved one.

ESL Gabby is a volatile and very disorganized middle man, she is really unnecessary and a tumor for the company. Also DON'T go through the $78 background/fingerprint check unless your okay with being "reimbursed" after 90 days of probation with the company (something gabby forgot to mention) shady a$$ business, Then I would have been able to make the decision if I want to go through with the whole job process! Now they make sure that you stick with the company for the 90 days or your out of that cash $$. Another thing you they DONT tell you until after that you also have to pay for mandatory CPR classes $38 "reimbursed' after 90 day! Basically your out $116 before you even start!!! What?!?!? Most residents are told to go to bed and when I was filing out my paper work in the recreation room I was ease-dropping and was hearing a lot of grievances from the resident about the staff.

I have both my parents there and I agree with what reviews are saying about the home. But the one thing that all the residents complain about is the food. They claim that all the meals are horrible. I think I that the administration needs to look into who is creating the meals and how much food is getting wasted because they do not like the food that is been served there. I hope that this matter gets looked into. Because it is about making the residents that live there happy and comfortable. Thank you

San Dimas Retirement is the best! Everyone is so friendly & helpful. Everyone seems very happy, the place is clean, doesn't smell like a old person home, the rooms are large & the staff remembers everyone's name. I would highly recommend this facility.
