I love Costco itself but the Pharmacy? The worst. Employees are so rude and top of being rude they don’t know how to communicate with their customers. Pharmacist was harsh, impolite and his sarcasm did not help on top of raising his voice. *0 stars*

They negotiate better prices with the suppliers so they don't need to charge as much as the smaller pharmacies to make money.

The incompetence of the pharmacy staff boggles the mind. They constantly make mistakes, then are rude on top of it. It sucks because the prices are lower here than CVS but when you go twice to get your prescription and it's still not ready as promised, you aren't saving money. Plus you have to contend with the massive crowds as the pharmacy is all the way at the back. That plus the crowded parking lot just adds up to GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

We used to get Rxs filled at the Rite Aid only 1 block from our home, until the terrible service and ridiculously slow lines drove us away. We became Costco members because of the pharmacy. No, you need not be a member to shop the pharmacy, but after picking up your Rxs and wandering around sampling all the free goodies offered, you find you NEED TO BUY THAT GOODIE! So membership became required for us. Unlike the pharmacy staff at virtually every single Rite Aid and CVS in Los Angeles, the staff here is extremely friendly, very efficient, nearly always have what we want and have it ready very quickly, and they are courteous, prompt and helpful over the phone, which they always answer expediently. (Anyone in the know knows this is in direct opposition to CVS and Rite Aid pharmacy staffs.) What's more, the prices are MUCH better at Costco. Yes, you can get your Rxs a little cheaper at Walmart, but it'll take longer and the service won't make you smile. But Costco has fantastic prices on generics, it's rarely a long wait (three registers, all manned when it's busy), the staff is terrific and you DO NOT NEED TO BE A MEMBER. I think a lot of people avoid Costco pharmacy because they don't want to pay membership dues: Well, you don't have to, so no worries!
