Very friendly, my fur baby loves it. She gets excited when we pull in. She loves the play time and pool.

I took my dog to Bark City for his temperament test & fell in love. The entire staff was so friendly and warm to my dog. After the day was over I received a text message link to pictures of what he had been up to for the day. He made a friend and they had taken a picture of the two playing. They had a wall with pictures of newcomer dogs and my dog was on there when I came to pick him up. Overall incredible experience.

OUR DOG GOT VERY SICK HERE. AFTER A 4 DAY STAY, SHE GOT INFECTIONS IN BOTH EYES, ON BOTH BACK PAWS AND LOST ALMOST 7 POUNDS. My family and I recently went away for a few days this week. We decided to leave our dog Rosie close to our home at Bark City in Huntington Beach which is a play based doggy day care and boarding facility. We recently moved from the East Coast. While living back east we used another play based doggy daycare place that Rosie had gone to for about a year. So needless to say, she has always done very well around other dogs and never had an issue boarding. She has never had an infection, never been sick and actually never had to go to a vet for anything other than shots. Yesterday afternoon when we picked her up after 4 days of being with Bark City, she seemed especially lethargic. We understand that dogs can get quite tired especially after playing hard, but this was very different. She couldn’t walk up stairs and immediately collapsed in the corner of our living room. We also immediately noticed that she had a grey/white discharge coming from both eyes. Her eyes seemed swollen as well. When she got home, she wasn’t walking right (almost crooked or as if she was drunk) and kept licking her back paws. She didn’t eat and she didn’t come upstairs to our bedroom at bedtime which is especially strange for her. When the attendant at Bark City gave Rosie to us yesterday when picking her up, she had wiped her eye stating that she had “eye boogies”. This morning she actually was worse. Her eyes were almost swollen shut, we looked at her back paws and they were raw and red. We immediately brought her to the vet where we found out that both eyes are infected, both back paws are infected (4 infections total) and she lost 7 pounds (normally 65 pounds, down to 58) from last time we were at our vet for shots (1 month ago). Our vet prescribed antibiotics, a medication for her eyes, a medicated wash for her back paws and gave her a shot to bring down the swelling and relieve the itching in her paws. He also gave her a cone that she has to wear when we are not around so her paws can heal properly. We confronted the Bark City, (talked to the owner Bryson Berryman on the phone) and my wife talked to Brittany (the other owner) in person. After they tried to explain everything away to my wife, they finally agreed to refund the 4 day stay (in the amount of $203) and as well as pay for part (but not all) of the vet bill in the amount of $55 out of $161. Basically they refunded us $258 out of the $364 that this week had cost us between boarding and the vet bill. They told us that this is an “isolated incident” and that nothing like this “has ever happened”. They gave us excuses of how this could have happened but didn’t take responsibility other than to refund the stay and part of the vet bill. They told us that Bark City is incredibly clean and kept saying that this is an isolated incident and this has not happened to any other dogs there. We completely understand that when dogs are in the same place things like Kennel Cough can happen (similar to how a child in school gets a cold). But this is quite different. This is 4 infections, weight loss (7 pounds) as well as extreme lethargy. We are obviously distraught for our dog Rosie and quite honestly pretty angry about how they dealt with this situation. They did give us some money back but offered no solutions to how they are going to prevent this kind of thing in the future. I would have refunded the full stay (which they did) as well as the FULL vet bill (which they didn’t). I would have also immediately crated all the dogs so I could properly disinfect the place and prevent this from happening to other dogs. I would have also put together an immediate plan to ensure things were kept cleaner and future problems such as this were minimized. Here are some photos of our dog Rosie. The first one is right before we went away and here is how she looked when we picked her up.
