It was wonderful to take a ride on a piece of history. The hosts were great and the Kentucky scenery was beautiful. The museum was fun and educational, and we really enjoyed the model train. We are so fortunate that so many volunteers and lovers of train history are willing to do what they do to make this opportunity available to us all. It truly takes an army!

Your interest will vary based upon how much you like railroad history. The out-and-back excursion is relaxing, but the scenery is fairly static. I highly suggest visiting, but I'm not rushing to make plans to return. One important point: if you like old rolling stock, the collection here is outstanding! Most of them need a lot of restoration and you can't get in them, but I was impressed at the sheer quantity available.

Love the experience, was a surprise for my husband and he love it! The museum the ride the excitement we are like kids at heart. Go early Nd have lunch al Howies family dinner in front of them to complete your experience. And if you are like us go have a memories at the shop, I'm in love with my train mood ring 😊😁🤭🚞🚞🚞🐎

Great experience! Santa was fantastic. We had an 5 year old Autistic child. Santa, and Ms Clause was so nice, let him go at his own pace. We even got a picture. That’s a big deal!!! Thanks!! We will see you all again next year.

Yes the entire time you are on the property a face covering must be worn, this includes while on the train as well. Hope this helps.
There are 9 excursions, starting at 9:50 AM and last at 4:30 PM. Book tickets online at www.kyrail.org for $20 each.
You can rent the dining car and have your celebration while the train is traveling down the tracks. Our prices depend on how many you people you have. Reservations are required. Please give the ticket office a call if you are interested. (800) 272-0152. Thank you for your inquiry.
