Swartz canyon (aka Mt Gower) is a great hike. It is 9 miles round-trip if you start at the water tower. It is 11 if you start at Mt Gower trail head. There is lots of elevation with steep bits. Take plenty of water and snacks. Once you great to the large flat Rock area near the top you need to stay on the left of the rocks to stay on the trail. It's a scramble/climb to get to the top.

Most of the trails here are mixed use (humans and horses). There are many great views and well kept trails. Be aware that some of the peaks are difficut to summit (be ready for scrambling and possibly bouldering parts).

This place is very nice. There are a few trails that lead to great views. I saw people riding their horses here too so I think there is more to Swartz canyon trails than I knew. Plenty of parking and there is a bathroom in between the parking area and some of the trail heads. The hikes aren't too challenging so it's great for all ages. In the warmer months you have to stay on your toes and know how to identify snakes by looks and sounds (rattle snake) I was there in July of 2017 and saw 2 snakes. One I heard before I saw (rattle snake) and the other one looked like a rattler but didn't have the buttons on it's tail to rattle. Beautiful wild flowers and plenty of photo ops. I'll go here again for sure.
